Good for him.
How did he fare the next week when it was all on the line?
He lost to a very good Richmond team. MVFC was nowhere to be found. You can't get to 4 NCs without winning big games along the way. Appy St. in the semis, etc.
Checking facts on your claimed dominance by the MVFC, I looked at Montana vs the top MVFC teams. Montana is:
4-5 vs NDSU
7-0 vs UNI
8-0 vs SDSU
1-0 vs S. IL
12-6 vs USD
Don't feel so dominated. The MVFC is very top-heavy. NDSU's dominance does not make the MVFC a dominant conference.
First of all, your all time record against NDSU is wrong. Second, I don't really care what happened in 1960 between UNI and Montana, it is irrelevant. Third, the way Montana has historically competed against the MVFC is not relevant as a whole when discussing conference vs conference.
At any point in the FCS/D1AA history, has anyone really said the Big Sky was the premier conference? I mean ever? Sure, Montana has put up a few good teams, but by and large the 2000's were owned by the CAA and SoCon, the 2010's have been dominated by the MVFC etc. 1980's and 1990's were a SoCon/MVFC league.
Look, all you need to do is just open your eyes and watch a playoff game. The best the Big Sky has to offer has not been good enough. The conference does not have a single team who can physically compete against NDSU and JMU. Not one.
OK show me where the posted record against NDSU is wrong; straight from CFO Info http://cfbinfo.com/series/montana-grizzlies/north-dakota-state-bison. Montana never even played UNI until the 80's and has wins in 2018, 2016, 2011 and our NC year 2001, the latter two complete blowouts. We own Farley and SDSU. Your claims for MVFC clout in the 80's and 90's is also total BS; that was due to YSU, which was not even in the MVFC (Gateway) until 1997. But nice try to round out your narrative.
The reason the way Montana (we could include EWU) competes vs the MVFC is relevant only because of your asshat chest-thumping proclamations about MVFC domination, which is full of holes. You do not hear this website claiming such for the BSC, but to reactively show examples that dispute your overboard claims. What is irrelevant in the discussion is that one team, NDSU is dominant for several reasons. NDSU deserves all respect as a dominant program; the record is clear. The MVFC as a conf., not so much. You conveniently overlook that the MVFC has Missouri St's and others like it. A conf as dominant as you claim would be good top to bottom.
Sure, the BSC is not currently producing teams that take NCs away from NDSU or JMU, but we certainly can compete with the rest of the MVFC, which is not as exceptional as you claim. Otherwise the BSC would not have 4 of the 8 seeds and 2 of the 4 semifinalists.
