Ash and Kennedy act quickly

Ummm, they ARE equal 2506. Minter and Tru's crimes are about as equal as you can get as college kids: giving your ID to someone under 21; having a loud party.

Now, I know you like to color things all blue and gold and continue to say that Tru assaulted someone. Here's news: HE DIDN'T. Be objective for ONCE in your life.

No this cannot be right. A coach cannot hand out such discipine without waiting for the legal system to run its course. Coach Ash should just sit tight, wait until after the 2012 season and let these guys plead out to a misdemeanor and be done with it. What is he trying to do, teach these guys a life lesson. Absurd...........

right-on, dude!

WHO, the hell is Kennedy??? j/k...my point is, this isn't really noteworthy on Egriz. I'm a little surprised at Trammel being dismissed though I haven't seen anything official from MSU that says he is. Minter didn't deserve anything more than he's getting which is probably some serious, gut wrenching conditioning which for him will probably be a nightmare considering his size. This one's put to rest, let's move on, just like the peanut gallery needs to get over the fact that ALL Tru and Kemp did and were charged with was playing their music too loud!!!!! No assault, misdemeanor's for violence of any kind, not felonies of any kind or otherwise. They played their music too loud and mouthed off to police and were punished by both the law and Pflu accordingly and anyone who tries to make it as more, just like anyone trying to make Minter's loaning of an ID as more is a MORON of epic proportions.

So tru wasn't involved in the curb stomping that bobby paid off the dad?
they were charged with misdemeanor assault and plead down to a lessor charge of disorderly. If they had received the same as the MSU players they would have gotten at least 1 week suspension and not had their hand held on the way to the lawyers.

actually giving your i.d. to someone is worse than playing loud music, so they aren't similar at all. minter apparently admitted to it. could he have hired a lawyer and fought it and had the charge dismissed? probably. especially if he had dumpapoopus and co. represent him. in tru's case he didn't admit to what he did, the school march him down to the lawyer and had most of the charges dismissed. i won't continue, because as you can see the similarities are falling apart.

tru was charged with misdemeanor assault (same as trammel at this point in time), it was after the season that he plead down to a lessor charge. If you go by the disorderly conduct charge then Wilsons punishment is at least 4 times more sever than tru received and this is wilsons first offense while true is a repeat offender

only someone as braindead as DHiW could perceive similarities between Minter and Tru

What the F*CK are you blabbering about IQ25.06. As far as I know, you, getgrizzy, and about 3 or 4 of your senseless cat buds are the only ones who DON'T believe those two are equal in severity. And man, let me tell you, THOSE are guys with a great deal of respect!!! But again, you've never been unbiased (or smart) once in your life, so I see no reason that's going to change.

After the MSU crack murdering athletes a couple years ago with a side of testicles down the throat MSU still has issues. They are not perfect or even near it due to supposed superior discipline.

all of those guys had already been kicked off the teams at msu, so i don't think you can hang that on them. we've had much more trouble over the past five years than msu and i firmly believe that it is due to the soft punishments given out by our administrators.

MSU brought the murderers to Bozeman as athletes and they share some of that culpability. Selection of prospective athletes is as important, if not much more important than threatening punishment etc for things from serious crimes to crap like BYU and their having premarital sex punishment clause.

But the reality is student athletes are still just young people just like the rest of the students at each university. There is no guarantee just because they are from east LA they will be drug murdering hoods, or because they are from Missoula, montana they will be angels.

I still laugh about you guys saying Student Athletes are NOT ABOVE the other students yet put them on a pedestal yourselfs. Coming back to America is still makes me laugh to see such inconsitant things our society does. Student Athletes, doctors, lawyers, movie stars, even politicians, etc are people yet in America we cant seem to grasp this. To be honest it kind of seems that people actually enjoy putting people on pedestals just to see them fall and find amusment or make news. I would put most if not all the MSU fans, Alpo and pickleman on here pontificating about UM student athletes.

Students Athletes AND Academic Scholarship Students AND Regular Students should have the same code of ethics and face the same punishments for things NOT RELATED to grades.

Edit - sorry spelling

This punishment was easy to decide. Trammel was coming off acl surgery so who knows if he is even gonna be able to play much. He has been known as a fighter and has caused problems before. So its easy to make an example of him and kick him off the team. Minter got handled internally. Which if everything is true should be the appropriate punishment. Wilson got suspended a week from the track season. Will he miss one meet or what? It is hard to compare this incident to the incidents of the Griz. This incident the facts seem pretty clear. Trammel admitted to it. There were witnesses that saw him do it. Latest Griz example (Tru and Kemp) the facts were not clear at all. There were witnesses backing up the players story. And in the end the story was mostly correct. So they got disorderly conduct and got suspended ALMOST a week. Wilson got disorderly conduct and was suspended a week. Matching punishments.

I do believe Ash handled this incident appropriately and this will set a good example for the rest of the athletes at MSU.

you're off your rocker dude. i'd say, so far, that 2506 and i don't believe they are equal and you believe they are. i don't see anyone else (edit: bdizzle is on our side) weighing in, so quit making stuff up. the crimes weren't the same (i.d. vs. pushing police), how the school handled it wasn't the same (walking the criminals to the lawyer office vs. sacking them within three days), and the punishment wasn't the same (suspended from play for an entire track meet vs. one quarter of a game). where do you come up with this stuff??!!!

Ash and MSU handled their situation correctly. Pflugrad and UM handled their situation correctly. Both schools have quality Head Coaches and Administrators.

End of Story.

I agree with this. The only thing I'd add is that Wilson is suspended this upcoming weekend for sure, but his case is still being reviewed, so it's still a possibility he could face further punishment.

Same with Xavier Blount. His situation will be evaluated after the season and could face additional punishment.

Inventor of the eat sh-t griz go cats go chant, I'm sorry, but do you have proof that before the diorderly conduct charge this fall, Trumaine Johnson had EVER been charged with anything in Missoula County? It's public record. Go find the proof buddy. It's funny how you continually come on the Egriz and act all racist, but then have a completely different tone your MSU fandom. I bet the african american Bobcat players would just LOVE reading your racist crap. I'm sure they'd have a whole lot of love for you. It has to chap your ass that Elvis was one of there first of several Cat players to reach out Tru about the taser incident.

Sooo it's now a cat-griz, griz-cat thing to argue about how we each deal with our badasses?? really..really..REALLY?? smh

When has UM ever waited for the legal system to run its course, with perhaps the exception of the Wilson biting matter?

If Minter's only involvement is (as reported) use of his license, then whether he was a Griz, Cat, or LSU Tiger I would agree with internal discipline only. Why would anyone want to punish him anymore than that. We are not talking about someone that was involved in a fight and he didn't disobey an officer of the law. And for the record, if you go back and read my posts, you may learn that I was not critcal of the fact that a couple of Griz players got into trouble for having a loud party. That is what many college kids do. The issue I had then, still have now, is the Chicken Sh*t way in which Plu handled it hiding behind "the legal system" when we all knew (as evidenced by my post the very first day it was reported) that they were going to plead out to disorderly conduct after the season. To say the legal system was needed to determine whether these two players did something wrong is total BS. The facts were well known that they did not act in an appropropriate manner and should be disciplined. Not knowing what the two players history was (assuming this was the first problem) then a one game suspension handed down immediately would have been appropriate and sent a good message.

One of the things many of the Griz fans fail to understand is the benefit this would have had for the players. The Griz currently have a player facing very serious criminal charges. He was allowed to skate on several incidences prior to the one that has put him into serious legal jeopardy. Did it every occur to the Griz fans that if the HC had stood up and taken disciplinary action on these prior occassions, this kid may not be where he is today. A HC hiding behind the legal system and putting wins ahead of discipine is not doing these kids any favors and in the end may be enabling them to make more serious mistakes that will have a permanent impact on their lives.

despite the antics of 2506 and doberman, you have to admire how msu conducts its business. i'm a firm believer that this kind of action leads to less problems. i hope o'day and co. are paying attention.

What would you have handled differently at UM?
