It's simple. The University of Montana has better players than montana state university, but montana state might have better coaching. I like our chances against App State and think App State would beat the cats.
Nuff said! :coffee:

Wow, thats pretty bold! I like your confidence this early in the season! I think you're dead wrong, but hey, it's football season! 8-)
WoW!! Really?!? MooU could barely handle Stony Brook but you think you could beat App State?!? WOW!!!  I'll have whatever you're drinking, please.

One thing.......we won't know how good/bad the cats are until they get done with they're over hyped scrimmage on Thursday night against none other than............monmouth ;)

It would totally make my day if MooU paid this team to come play and they punched them in the mouth and get paid for it

Nobody is saying that the Cats are NDSU or even SHSU, but it is pretty hard to deny that they have had more success than either the Griz or App St in the last 3 years. If you're not butt hurt over the Cats success then why would you even bring them into the conversation by starting this thread.

Fail. Griz were in semis 2 years ago. MSU hasn't made it out of the Quarters in any year. Same as App. So, you're definitely not better than the griz over the past 3 years & you're at best equal to App over the past 3 years. At least on a national stage which is all that really matters...
App has one win in 3 years in the playoffs, MSU has 2

UM failed to even qualify for the playoffs 2 of the 3 years and they were eliminated by the same team that eliminated the Cats.

MSU has a better W/L record that either App or UM over the 3 year period.

MSU has a national award winner in the 3 year period.

MSU has a higher average ranking than either App or UM in the 3 year period

MSU win the head to head vs UM 2-1 in the 3 year period.

I don't think so. You won't really know the strength of either school until half way through the season. What you will see however is how ready both teams are to play. Monmouth is usually the kind of school um likes to start out with. I used to criticize them for powder puff games, but after the debacle of Chadron with Woodhead, I respect EVERY team no matter what their level. It's a game and anything can happen an any given Saturday. I give the griz a slim 3 point advantage for home field, but that said, the bigger game is not this week it's the following week, win or lose this week.

Funny tidbit about "cat fans"... they were nowhere to be found before "the streak" ended.

When they finally got that win... wow, did they ever come out of the woodwork. One would be very hard pressed to find any sCat fan board or even a handful of posts prior to that time. MAYBE one of them remembers 'escribe', but that'd be about it.

After DM retires and the scats start producing losing seasons again, the Litterbox and BN will be empty once again.

The Cats are set at QB for many years. The true freshman Quinn McQueary may be the best yet. Ash said he is the best incoming freshman he has seen in his 30 years of coaching with the skiils he already has.

 What a bunch of meaningless measuring sticks. That's the problem with MSU & MSU fans...they still think all those things actually MEAN something.

 Hey, he got me AZ!....Congrats Cat fans! Let us bow at your accomplishments!

Sorry, but that's the difference. You've got a slightly better record over past 3 years. But I think your touting of the MSU "accomplishments" shows the difference in MSU relative to App St / Montana. As slight as the advantages you list are in these areas over this small window of time, you're bragging of your "accomplishments" while at the same time App St / Griz fans would, nay, DO consider the past 3 years a failure for not meeting expectations.

Outside of 1984 (29 years ago), these are your glory days! 1 more win in the playoffs, no semi's, no finals, no championships on a national level & sharing the conf title 2 of the 3 years. Congrats on the low bar of futility you have set and continue to maintain! :thumb:

So, McQuery is the best incoming freshman out of Juanita College, Drake, and Little Bro State? That's incredible.

Not taking anything away from McQueary cause he is a beast and I'm sure will be great, but one common theme amongst Cat posters this month has been "MSU's backups are better than the starters". I'm wondering why those guys don't actually win the job in fall camp then? The MSU depth chart doesn't reflect these assertions by some MSU fans, with the exceptions of season-ending injuries. I've seen people say Coe is better than Gale, Foster and Vunipola better than Na', and more recently Brekke and McQueary are better than them all. Why aren't they winning the starting jobs if they are indeed THE BEST PLAYERS? It makes no sense. I always thought at this level, and especially at MSU, which has supposedly ascended to the second-best program in the FCS, feelings, grade or age weren't considered when it comes to playing time. If McQueary is better than DM, why wouldn't he play? If Brekke is the best running back in camp, why is he listed fourth on the depth chart? Don't the best players on the team play and help win football games?

I don't think people are saying they are better than the starters. But I think you will see a lot of the younger ones get a chance during the season to see what they can do and maybe break inot the starting line-up. Most all the freshman will be redshirted probably excpet Brekke and Blake Braun a LB. Not saying McQueary is better right now than all but will be a great one before his career is over at MSU. The backups to DM are all good and it will be a real challenge next spring. Bleskin, Pukrop, McQueary and throw Tanner Roderick in their too.

I'm sorry, I check here somewhat frequently, and BN daily... and I haven't heard any of those claims.

Unless you are talking about BigSky33 who honestly I just skim his rose-colored glasses posts.

Coe may end up being better than Gale, but not right now.
