Why would you assume anyone is fine with that?

I think Bobby and this team can do a lot better than they did last year.

If you don't think we can, that's totally cool, but there's nothing in thinking that we can do better that means I'm okay with any of that.

If you think last year was an "anomaly", that presumes that you were ok with the year before. A lot of things didn't go Bobby's way last year, but you know what they say about excuses... :| :| :|

The season where we beat Washington, a top-25 ranked team, in one of the most joyful victories the Griz have had in the last decade? Then went 9-2 in the regular season, destroyed the Cats completely to finish the regular season, and were 13 total points away from going undefeated? Had the most fun defense to watch in all of the FCS? Then got revenge for one season loss by shutting EWU up by hanging 57 points and beating the best QB they have ever had? The one where we only lost out to JMU, who was neck and neck with the future national champions of ND State? Same JMU team that moved up to the FBS and was ranked in the top-25 of all of the FBS during the season?

Yea, that was actually a huge, huge improvement over what was happening when Bobby came back. We were all happy with that year, man. Where were you?

We can't win a national title every year. We NEVER have won a national title every year, or even played for one every year. And that 2021 season features some absolutely wonderful memories that I will not forget.

We beat an FBS school, beat our rival for the first time in 5 years, got a top 8 seed despite losing our starting QB for several weeks, and were hanging with the 2nd best team in FCS before we lost our best receiver and said starting QB. Those aren't excuses, that's what happened.

We were doing very well considering we had 3-straight seasons of missing the playoffs not too far before this. I was okay with that season because we were still trending upward.

You seem way too fixed on last year and seem to think that's our new trajectory, which, again, that's totally fine, but I don't think we're stuck yet.

And if we’re STILL not more talented than those teams, is Bobby the right guy? After 5 years?

Asking for a friend…

I’ve said it before in different ways, but one has to wonder who we could get to Coach FCS FB in Montana who would be better and want to stay more than a few years. I get that people have their opinions on Bobby because I have mine, too. I’m not a hater or a defender. But many who have longed for stability at HC don’t appear to also acknowledge that we are probably viewed as a stepping stone program for most good candidates. Come in, win, and leave for more money. Sh*t, Choach left MSU to become an assistant LB coach at the next level because that seemed like a better path for his career. That’s what coaches do now.

I think BH gives us stability. But I’m not sure if a revolving door strategy would work better. Tough call, honestly.

I'll take the revolving door...see Griz coaches of past glory and UNDSU as evidence. Younger, hungry coaches looking to move up...drive excellence.

Comfortable coaches generate just enough to keep the fans happy enough...see Northern Iowa among others...

Can UM be an exception?

Amen, the Griz had a great year that season and a 10 win prior to it. I was very okay with those teams as the trend was all up and heading the right direction. One “down” year last year (still made playoffs and won a game) and a few vocal folks here lose their minds. Let’s see how this next season plays out and then we can get the pitchforks or be dancing in the streets.

Absolutely agreed. I can't understand how so many people here vehemently deny that our trajectory was massively upward compared to the two previous regimes. Nobody thought last year was perfect. Hauck himself said he didn't meet his own expectations. This isn't a secret. Nobody is sugar coating that last year was a down year. And that down year was still better than things had been before Bobby 2.0.

If the trend line continues down, of course there will be a lot more frustration. But lets not throw the baby out with bathwater.

Yeah, I hate it when we have piss poor seasons like that, don't you?

I'll take this opportunity to plug my entrepeneurial startup 'Vigilante's Pitchforks and Torchs' located in the tailgate section, just southeast of the Van Buren Street Footbridge. Ideal for those tired of just bitchin'! Cash and carry. :protesst: :fuel:

"Massive improvement" is hyperbole. There has been no such thing.

It is not OK to be an FCS Blue Blood (former) with the best facilities and the best fan base and not progress beyond the quarterfinals in the bracket.

That is the ONLY thing that matters in the FCS - advance through the bracket. Nothing else matters. That is what makes the FCS special.

Griz have not done it effectively since Pflu was the coach...

Raise your expectations Griz fans. There are zero reasons the Griz should not be competing for the natty...zero.

Stop with that crazy talk, Soldier. Take your damned 10 wins and be happy!

This is exactly why some people will be whining every year unless the Griz win the championship. Bitch bitch bitch.

It is the dumbing-down process which has caused the Griz fan base to lower expectations. It is insidious, and allows a coach like Bobby Hauck to continue his run of mediocrity with impunity from a morose fan base, satisfied with a bunch of meaningless wins against patsies, taking our yearly pounding by the Cats (thank you sir, may I have another), buying a first round home game, then being destroyed by a real contender for a national championship.
2011 seems like an eternity for Grizzly football........... the end of more than two decades of dominance

What is the result of a head coach whose team continues to fail to meet his own expectations???..He becomes a former head coach

The 'trend' seems to be THIS year. IMO.

Agreed. 2011 is the key. :thumb:

You're once again coming to a conclusion no one is making.

10-win seasons when you haven't won more than 7 games in several years is pretty damn good. Everyone on here wants us to go 15-0. You can say that those seasons were good while still hoping we can do better than that. No one wants us to limit ourselves to 10 wins.

Edit: Sorry, don't want to make it seem personal lol. I just feel like we've been over this enough that it's frustrating to keep having "this was good" turned into "this is good enough forever".

Why is this so hard for you?

Well I just figured that was the game HHB was playing. Coming to conclusions no one is making. It’s fun. Try it.

I don't think that's what he's doing, your original post to me asking me if I was okay with 2021 made it seem like you don't think it was okay/a good season. Maybe that wasn't your intention, but he wasn't the only one that got that impression.

You are too smart to act this ignorantly. Obviously I was responding to someone asking if that particular season was good. That's not living in the past, it is answering a question. Quit being so dedicatedly stubborn that you willfully misconstrue what people say. I'm sorry you hate Bobby Hauck and the Griz coaches so much that you are willing to abandon basic conversational logic.
