6-2 with 4 games left

Win out and we are looking at a seed..

3-1 playoff game first round at home

2-2 playoff maybe? But likely away

...I think we are playoff bound

Win out and maybe we get a seed. Depends on how other teams have. Decent shot, tho.

3-1 agreed.

2-2 decent chance of playoff, but again depends on how other teams have done. Home game. Only the first 8 are seeded, and they don't play on the first round. First round is still based on the bid, as far as I know.

The inconsistency of the EWU game really got me down. What looked liked a competitive game against a great team in the first became potentially the worst loss in WSG history by the third, only to have a great comeback fall short, to where the loss really came down to any one of three or four plays. I think the conclusion has to be that this team has the capability to beat EWU (and MSU) handily, if the offense gets rolling, but we could also puke at Sac and/ or SDU if we go stagnant again. I don't know anything about personnel or game planning but it sure seems that, as others have posted, we might try short passing more, including shovels and pitches and reverses, THEN pounding the run late when the opposing D is worn down. I agree with BW that the O line is under performing and need to be fired up. The inconsistency is the hard part. Playing our best from here out we could go deep into post season, perhaps to Frisco. It is also not absurd to think we could collapse and not even get in.

We could go 2-2(which we wont) and still get in. yes unless you are seeded the other matchups are based on the bid as to who hosts.

Here's to hoping we go 3-1, and don't have to worry about it....

I do think at this point, the remaining games are "must wins," especially if we want to put ourselves in a good position to advance in the playoffs. If we win out, there's a good chance we get two home games. Lose one more, we get a bye and one home game. If we lose two more and happen to get in the playoffs with a 8-4 record, more than likely we get a first round home game with the rest on the road.

Hopefully we win out and get those two home games! :thumb:

To get 2 home games, you have to be a top 4 seed (unless seeds fall in early rounds). If you aren't a top 8 seed (and then have a bye in round 1), then you have to go on the road in the round 2 to play a top 8 seed. Feel free to correct me if this isn't correct.

Another thing to note is if 2 unseeded teams meet in the quarters or semis home field will be based on the same criteria as first-round games, which is financial guarantees from potential hosts, quality of facility, attendance history and potential and team performance. Probably not good odds to have 2 unseeded teams win in the same bracket, but it is a possibility.

With 8 teams seeded, and having a first round bye, don't see how two unseeded teams could ever meet in the quarters.

Like I said, not good odds but it will happen at some point, 2010 was the last time but there were only 5 seeded teams then. Just information more than anything else.

It can't happen in the quarters with 8 seeds. Every team advancing from round 1 will play a seeded team, by definition.

You're thinking of the round of 16, actually all 8 seeded teams could lose before they got to the quarters, though that would never ever happen. I had to stop and think about that a minute or two after you replied.

Yes, round of 16. My bad.
