Justin Green to Washington State

With the cost of living in Missoula - he'd need to hire someone already "financially established". 🤣
This is a highly underrated reason we have the coaching staff we do. Bobby has done a great job adding high level guys that have money coming in from past jobs to work here, or guys that are close enough to retirement that they are established. I get that people want younger coaches, but we have an absurd wealth of experience for what the Griz are able to pay coaches.

Or an up-and-comer who is willing to sacrifice for the job.
For sure - was making a more tongue-in-cheek comment about the FCS wage scale for assistant coaches and cost of living in Missoula. Green was paid pretty solid (at least as of 2024) - but he was also at the university forever. Even at that posted salary in 2024 - still doable - but they won't be raking in the dough (most likely).

Pete Sterbick came from D2 CO Mines to be MSU’s offensive coordinator this season. He is a young upcoming coach. Bozeman has a higher cost of living than Missoula and I wouldn’t imagine his salary is huge with his experience being from D2.

Yeah, so he doesn’t really have any legitimate coaching experience. That’s Class B football in Montana lmao. Would be a total flyer to hire him as a RB coach.
All I was doing pointing out he’s coached before which the post was saying he didn’t have experience lol.

He's also likely going to be their next head coach if/when Vigen leaves.

In the portal era I don't know that I would entrust such a critical part of roster management to someone who has never recruited before. Recruiting and managing the portal is a tough thing to wrangle.
How about Grant Caserta? Ferris has won 4 of the last 5 national titles in D2. He is defensive minded being their co dc and recruiting coordinator. He knows the Midwest as well as handling national searches. Affordable, experienced.

I think top D2 in our region would be a good place to look for someone affordable who already has connections for recruiting our region. I am not sure who the coaches are CWU are but that could be a good place to look.

that is a resume' of someone who better fits what Montana is capable of hiring.

Hauck's network is expansive. He's been in the business for a very long time. He most definitely knows a lot more people than just former players. There are people he could trust and do a great job that didn't wear the UM uniform, not to mention have more coaching experience than Robby or Chase Reynolds.

Here is a great choice. He got back into coaching a couple years ago and led a Sidney program that had really struggled for years back into the playoffs within 2 years. He would help with in state recruiting a ton.

They're all at Portland State now.

I wonder if Fonoti (Sp?) finds his way to WSU along with coach Green. Congrats to coach, well deserved! I’m still sad to see him go. Farewell coach!

Tweet from a players (not a RB) parent....this is why the recruiting coordinator matters so much and why Green excelled

Coach Green is the reason Styles came to Montana. One of the very best coaches and an even better man. He will be truly missed, and anyone who’s crossed paths with him knows how special he is. We love you,
@GrizCoachGreen

Hopefully Justin will go to WSU and develop a great relationship with Max Woods, a RS So. RB out of Chanhassen, MN. Wishing Justin well.
