Justin Green to Washington State

Except he also just put a very pro griz post up on socials... and trust me, the players are not hearing this today for the first time. Justin would've told his guys right away when he made his decision.

Lets see how this plays out griz fans!
I agree with seeing it play out, but even if we retain Gillman and Jones, it still hurts losing a position coach of his caliber and his recruiting abilities.

Agree it is a huge loss. Also a huge opportunity to re evaluate the recruiting program top to bottom and adjust where necessary. Timing with the portal is god awful though.

With Green's long term connection, it would be a pretty brutal betrayal to take from this position group on the way out. I have a feeling he would love to be the head coach here someday, and I really doubt he wants to burn that bridge for the stepping stone job that he is taking.

He will likely get a solid raise, though, and I wish him all the best.

Nothing compared to whats happening to the soccer team. I dont blame Coach Cito for it though. Hes done an amazing job at creating a culture and he's basically a father to the girls. I get players wanting to follow their position coaches. We also cant assume that the coach is dragging his players with him. The players have a choice too.

Chase Reynolds as a replacement? No real coaching experience and kids being in many sports maybe not a good fit right now, but a ton of high level football knowledge. Green had some high school experience when he started but none at a college level. Thoughts?
Chase coached as an assistant at Loyola for a few years.

Valid points that make me feel a little better about player retention in the RB room.

good for him! he's been having success at the fcs level for a very long time, and he deserves a better payday. look at all the great rb's he's recruited and coached - there's no way he didn't have other opportunities that paid better. he's not getting any younger, it's time to take higher paying jobs. i hope for him he stays at wsu for a year or two, then gets snagged by a p4 program, and receives a real payday for once.
I agree, it's a good move for him and he deserves it.
Finding a quality RB coach won't be that hard for the griz program. But finding a recruiting coordinator to replace Justin will be much harder. The guy is young and has some serious cred with recruits. A former griz player with NFL experience gets your attention when he hits you up as a HS kid. I think it's a tough loss.
