It seems quite a bit unfair the offense can try to fool the defense, but not the other way around.

And, again, this is a new rule in 2025 with slightly different wording and emphasis. I am not disagreeing with what you said.

Officials at NFL, NCAA and High School get these points of emphasis and rules changes each year. The coaches know these changes too. Some of the rules and changes are still kinda vague and poorly written. Officials get the brunt of the shit though. The thing about officiating football compared to other sports is they can pick up a flag. They did get together and discuss this so at least more than one set of eyes thought the call was correct. Not saying it was or wasn't. Officials are human and people don't realize there are hundreds of variations of rules between high school and college and hundreds between NCAA and NFL. These officials work hard and they are good to get to this level but still with all that experience there are still instances like this that are 50/50 calls. And if the Cats were called a handful of times my guess the officials knew that and their opponents knew that and got in officials ear and they were looking for it.

Rule prohibits violent Stem Shifts. Deemed to be that. Called on 90. Whichever poster said they saw some odd movement by the DE should show us the clip. And then we could decide. All of the stuff posted about sound and snap count stuff was total BS.
