Let's see your preseason polls

I never heard any official injuries but I don’t doubt that he was beat up. Any idea of whos the top 3? Gilman, Ostmo, Arizona transfer? If the o-line stays healthy and the qb can perform this could be a very strong offense.
Yep, top 3 are Gillman, Ostmo, Rocker Jr.

No doubt the rushing game was better under cliff, he made it more dynamic and helped the rb rush. The game plan against Idaho was to pass the ball, now I won’t use it as an excuse as to why we lost but it definitely didn’t help us nor that stat. Here are the rushing numbers between the two teams, one is ranked 2 and the other is 24.

The gris: 15 games for 637 attempts (most of any) for 2652 yards for 4.16 average. They had 32 touchdowns and averaged 176.8 per game. Solid stats but when MSU, NDSU, and SDSU are all top 5 it is undeniably an area where the other top 4 teams are stronger in.

The cats: 12 games and 480 attempts for 3492 yards for a 7.28 average (almost a yard above any other school). For 41 touchdowns and 291.0 (2nd highest) average per game. Now yes the cats had some bad teams on the schedule but the 2nd string players played a lot of the game. Funny how you say “always run blocking” when your team rushes the ball more than any team in the top 50 😂. I can’t find sack per drop back stats but I would agree the cats and gris have fairly similar pass protection and would argue the cats have better o-linemen while gris have size advantage.

Please tell me how a 7.28 average per rush isn’t incredible, not only do we run it frequently we do it at the highest performance. Now obviously the explosive runs do stem from scheme, no doubt but then why do gris fans hate on the scheme so much if it does so well.
What are the stats against the same opponents? 7.28 per carry is obviously excellent and tbh Bozeman didn’t run it all that poorly for stretches in the Brawl. Griz finished drives while Cats stalled and seemed to become even more one dimensional in the red zone. But Griz running would’ve been higher had they played CP or EW instead of UCD.

Great question, if I get time tonight I will look into it. I also agree that the run did work in Missoula and the cats especially couldn’t finish drives- 100%. Yes gris stats definitely would’ve been higher but I think the cats had much more rushing success against good defenses whereas the gris struggled. That seems to be the biggest difference between the two which in my opinion stems from o-line differences.

Cats:
#24 in 3rd down defense at .338
#29 in interceptions at 11
#37 in passing yards allowed
#45 in rushing defense
#26 in scoring defense
#41 in team passing efficiency defense
#21 in TFL
#31 in total defense
My god this is even worse than I thought it would be. Not even a top 25 defense. No where close to what it takes to be a championship level D. You guys are so far away from winning a chip, probably since Hysell.
Poor choachy’s “culture” is long gone.
If I were a bubcatz fan (I just threw up a little bit in my mouth), I would be so pissed. How did it get so bad? Why have you guys let this happen? Griz nation would ever excuse DUIs and allow it to drop like this

😂😂😂 Yes 23 defense wasn’t incredible but multiple of our best players dealt with injuries. To be fair Choate had 3 NFL players on his defense. Heck #1 in sacks is pretty solid considering we typically rush 4 too… unlike the gris.

Cats lost 70 yards in only 10 sacks. Griz lost 297.

In Cats losses, Mellott was 40-312; Chambers 33-113; Davis 37-248 (3 games); White 13-47. SDS and Idaho shut down Mellott. All but SDS shut down Chambers. White was never a factor in those games . Davis got yards against Idaho and UM.

Season longs of 76, 88, 49, 79. Note Davis only 49. How fast or not is Davis? Gillman, Ostmo and Chambers had longs of 85, 64 and 42.

Davis and White had 6 and 4 TD’s. Chambers and Mellott had 14 and 5. Gilman, Ostmo and Chambers had 12, 8 and 9.

Is Rocker Arizona talent or was he a walk on/partial who realized playing is more fun than sitting on the bench?
I assume he was scholarship. FBS doesn't give partials, not allowed. You need to learn more about football. He had a decent year in 2021 with one start and then essentially didn't play. Don't know why. A start against Cal as a frosh is a good sign of talent/potential. My impression is that Rocker is going to be a good player and tough runner.

"2021: Played in 11 games and started the Cal game … Had 31 carries for 153 yards for an average of 4.9 yards per carry as a true freshman … Caught seven passes for 59 yards … Had eight carries for 87 yards vs. Washington, which included a 52-yard run … Had 24 rushing yards vs. Cal and 22 vs. Utah … Caught two passes for 27 yards vs. UCLA. Rated as a top-20 prospect in state of Arizona… Earned All District and All Region honors during prep career… Final two prep seasons at CDO were impacted by injuries and COVID-19 pandemic… Erupted on scene as a sophomore in 2018 amassing 1,163 yards rushing and a dozen touchdowns… Was first commitment of Arizona’s 2021 class"

Davis runs at people he is our hard hitter rb. White and Humphrey are very quick and tough. White and Humphrey will continue to get more touches as they were both freshman but I expect them to me phenomenal.

My apologies as I watch under 10 FBS games per year and don’t pay attention to scholarships. Why do you think he transferred if he was already getting time/expected to?

Going 0-16 in passing in the first half may have had something to do with those stalled drives lol.

Agree. And their run game was grossly inconsistent. They’d have some success running and move into Griz territory and then the next play Wilson or Gubner would be blowing it up 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Griz outplayed them in all three phases and once they went down 14 the team looked defeated and didn’t know how to respond. But the game was a little different than 2021. Bozeman had some good rushes. In 21, it seemed like they couldn’t get past midfield.

It was third downs that got the cat’s offense, 1-10 is rough. I believe it was 0-4 at the end of 1st half and 4-16 to end. The cats got behind early and could never get ANY momentum. Coming out of half the offense looked good and then Bergen returned one to half field. 21 is very accurate.

He wasn't getting time, after getting some as a frosh and getting a start. He may well be better than any of the Cat backs.

Anyone who follows FCS football would know that FBS scholarships can't be split like they can in FCS. It's football 101. You just google at times, look at stats, and don't understand football. It's obvious.
