Man I’m attempting to debate… you can either prove me wrong or you can agree that maybe I’m correct. No one on the o-line has been a backup for 2 years.

Can you explain how your "top 3" o-line managed to help your O score only 7 points and convert only 1-10 3d downs and 0-4 4th downs against the Griz? And have 280 yards of total offense and only 51 plays. And only have 1 turnover. That doesn't seem very top 3 to me. Were you amazing o-lineman blocking anyone?

Ok to add to my point here are some more facts. According to Hero Sports which is pretty dang accurate here are the weights to the top 15 ol.
290, 292, 296, 301, 300, 301, 287, 295, 315, 305, 290, 282, 286, 298.
Also guess which team has the most inside the top 15… MSU. Now if you disagree with hero then find other stats.

Where have I said any o-line or any o-lineman is "bad" in this thread? I have said the Cat o-line is small, actually tiny. Show us any top 25 team o-line that is as small as the Cat o-line. Here's the two-deep of SDSU in the game notes against Cats last season. 320, 315, 295, 300, 300. And compare the heights.

Agreed, the cats got dominated last year but we all know the brawl is special nor was that the o-lines fault. I mean the gris scored 14 points in 2021 with some serious talent.

Ok first off that OL has 2 draft picks sooooo thats a bit of a crazy comparison. But anyways 6’3”, 6’4”, 6’5”, 6’4”, 6’ (Perkins is one of the best linemen so obviously height doesn’t hinder him). Yes no doubt they are shorter but it has been proven the last 3 years that it has never limited them, literally.

So, do you agree that the Cat o-line is small? Both in weight and to some extent in height.
At start of season, UM was 304, 317, 300, 291 and 305, when they had Mayginnes. 6'6", 6'5" 6'2', 6'3", 6'5".

Ok yes undersized but far from “tiny” but they are very good, and I honestly would take MSU o-line over UM any day. Why didn’t the gris have a top o-line dominate then… didn’t they have to adjust the spacing because they were having problems. I’m no genius but I think everyone can agree that the cats have had a good o-line and the gris o-line has had solid starters but bad depth. How can you have one of the best rushing attacks with a bad o-line?

Okay, glad you finally answered my question and agreed with me. So, you would have taken the Cat o-line over the Griz o-line in the Griz/Cat game last fall? Interesting. How about in 2008 and 2009? That's any day, right?
Did you agree last year, at this time, when I posted that the Griz would be favored in the Griz/Cat game?
Do you think 8-4, with a first playoff home playoff game loss, was a "good" season for the Cats?

Yes the gris o-line wasn’t great last year… I hope we all agree and the cats legitimately had 3 guys go to FBS programs and their best player stayed. I would’ve picked the cats and if I’m not mistaken the bookies picked them too (which is crazy in wagriz). No doubt some disappointment but good teams learn and adapt which I hope to see this season. I think you don’t remember that was almost an identical line that MOWED over the gris in 22… lets stop focusing on the brawl games and rather focus on all games as brawls can get crazy momentum and just get weird overall sometimes.
Okay, when Clif took over, we averaged 225 yards on the ground in the weeks leading up to the brawl, and we didn’t get to play EWU or Cal Poly, the two worst rushing defenses in the conference. We also ran for more yards against Idaho than you did. But since the OL isn’t just run blocking, we also had a lower sack per drop back rate than you did last season. Total offense and scoring was pretty similar (and again, we didn’t get to play the two worst defenses in the conference, either). Sounds to me like you weren’t really that much better, despite also being way more one-dimensional. I get that you’re full of vim and bobcat batter, but the stats don’t suggest your offense was all that much better than ours after we settled on our QB.

Terrific and informative post. The Griz missed Mayginnes. While the Griz had depth, the backups were not better than the starters. Some of these Cat posters are delusional. Because they generally have a very good running game, they think their I-line is all-world. They don’t recognize the large positive impact of the scheme, Mellott and Chambers.
Mony, must be tough trying to find validation huh? Well better get back over to scat nation and get some soothing from your brethren or whatever you guys call your circle jerks. Only other alternative is to take your sore ass down to the store for some Preparation H. I would recommend the suppositories though and I’m sure you can find someone over in bobcat land to show you how to insert it with your lame redundant ramblings.

No doubt the rushing game was better under cliff, he made it more dynamic and helped the rb rush. The game plan against Idaho was to pass the ball, now I won’t use it as an excuse as to why we lost but it definitely didn’t help us nor that stat. Here are the rushing numbers between the two teams, one is ranked 2 and the other is 24.
The gris: 15 games for 637 attempts (most of any) for 2652 yards for 4.16 average. They had 32 touchdowns and averaged 176.8 per game. Solid stats but when MSU, NDSU, and SDSU are all top 5 it is undeniably an area where the other top 4 teams are stronger in.
The cats: 12 games and 480 attempts for 3492 yards for a 7.28 average (almost a yard above any other school). For 41 touchdowns and 291.0 (2nd highest) average per game. Now yes the cats had some bad teams on the schedule but the 2nd string players played a lot of the game. Funny how you say “always run blocking” when your team rushes the ball more than any team in the top 50
