Junior Day List

Hey Payton - no assignment here, but any idea how many of these kinds of prior visits turn out as commitments for Stitt? I recall some impressive stats for #'s of kids attending junior day.

Without looking... I would say about 70% of his recruits

That makes it more than worthwhile - thanks.

So what the hell, now, is 'junior day?'

This is the very first that I've ever heard of it. Which, of course, doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot, I know that! but, is this like Griz Camp or something like that?

Think of it more like an invited meet and great. Players get to see the campus, meet the coaches and players and watch the team in a scrimmage. You probably haven't heard much about it because in the past it was not as well covered and honesty not as important to previous coaches.

But Stitt does not like to give out an offer until he gets time with the player on campus and is able to give them a written/ oral test to see the compatibility with the program. This is in complete contrast to the kittie coach who to this point has offered what seems like 60 to 80 guys.

I'll be honest, I never really covered this in the past, but Stitt has made it clear that this is one of the most important days on his recruiting calandar.

If this helps anybody this is a story I wrote about junior day last year: http://missoulian.com/sports/college/grizzlies/junior-day-begins-montana-s-recruiting-process/article_ccd3b4f2-5cb2-5c1a-b641-e8e22d25d87d.html

can I assume travel expenses are paid by the family's? Cant imagine UM paying all those flights and lodging.

 Great QB. From a great program.

(A former Griz All-American has a son in the younger kid junior program)

I saw "D-Train" at the scrimmage. He would be do some damage at Montana, would be a MAJOR get.

Correct. Junior Day's are paid for by the families. Basically unofficial visits.

article in billings gazette suggested there were around 180 juniors that attended this event....

Talked to Graves' Dad out of Eureka, 6'3" 190. Won state in wrestling and football. Not bad.

Less than enthused about how junior day went.

Think you read that wrong, not 70% of the people that were there, but 70% of his incoming class each year, is how I read it.

Have to believe that most of the top Montana players were there

They were...same with the MSU junior day. Usually the two schools don't miss on inviting any potential in-state juniors so its usually chalk full of Montana kids.

If he was less than enthused about the tour the kids got, the mingling with the current players they got to do, the meetings with the assistant coaches, and, that Stitt made sure to personally meet every single kid and his family there, and spend time talking to each and every single one of them, which was nearly 200 kids and their fams, than OH WELL. I put a hell of a lot more stock in the 100 of tweets these kids sent out with nothing but excitement and positivity than I do one anonymous messgae on Egriz claiming that a parent was "less than enthused".

Ever talk with some of them personally, people send some tweets that are less than accurate. You know......
