Who are UM's peers?

NDSU, South Dakota, SDSU, and UND should all be big sky. That would vastly improve the Big Sky Conference and would make for much more entertaining matchups.

If those schools were in the BSC (in lieu of SUU, PSU and UNC) I would stop pushing for a move up.
So you want the BSC to be both CA and the Midwest..... The Dakotas all make more sense for the Missouri Valley Conf. The BSC would not miss UND; they are a significant geographic outlier.

ANY conference other than the current BSC (minus UND) would make for significant geographic outliers. Hawaii, anyone? ;)

And I was speaking strictly from a competition level standpoint... :thumb:

And have trips to the Ohio/PA border for a conf. game. Really makes sense.
Yes, YSU would be a long flight every 2 years.

About 1 hour longer than flying to Phoenix and bussing to NAU.
Flagstaff is drivable for a fan from central MT (934 mi, half of it 80 mph speed limit), Youngstown is not (1800 mi, most 65 mph, traffic, tolls).

UND is closer than NAU.
From Missoula and then just barely. Try that analysis from each of the other BSC locations and then try to deny that UND is a geographic outlier. The other three Dakota schools are in the Missouri Valley Conf. for a reason.

I understand that. Was just pointing out the fact. And I was only talking about UM and MSU joining the MVFL. Nobody else.

In theory, sure. In practice? Mmmmmm, not so much. I went to that game every year from 1995-2013....the vast majority of fans there in Griz gear came up from Phoenix, not down from Montana....unless they came down on the Alumni bus that went through & stayed in Vegas for a couple days each visit... :thumb:

Sure, I'm in the minority, but I drive to the road games we can make. ISU & UNC are close enough; we make it to NAU because of friends along the way. Wouldn't think of driving to any Missouri Valley venues. Flying is not a lot of fun anymore.

Was it ever?

I once flew to Alaska in the days when you could smoke on the plane. Some great looking stewardesses in the back of the plane cracked open a couple of bottles of Yukon Jack and we smoked and drank ourselves into a near stupor along the way. It was pretty damn fun, not even taking into account what we did in the bathrooms. The skies are not so friendly these days, my friends.

Not true about the bathrooms. I was told that you couldn't get lucky in a women's prison with a fist full of pardons.

Is that your version of a truce?

There's the winner, mvfc top to bottom outshines the bs , period stats & sagarin/Massey rankings prove that out.

NDSU
SDSU
UNI
ISU R
ISU B
YSU
WIU
USD
SIU
MISS ST
MSU
UM

WESTERN CONF would be a bloodbath (for kemanji--- Montana would play these 5 & travel wouldn't be bad
NDSU
SDSU
Um
Msu
Usd
UNI

But give me Montana/NDSU in the mountain west over that:
Mountain division:
Wyoming
Colo st
NDSU
Montana
Boise state
Utah state

Air Force

Why? I'll tell you right now that those top MWC teams want out of the MW. They want to be in the Power 5 conference. Unless you're in a Power 5 conference, it doesn't matter much. Even IF Montana or NDSU move to the Sun Belt or MW, you'll be treated as dirt by the top schools in those conferences. Go over to the CSU rams message board and all of the posters strongly desire to move on the Big 12 (although I doubt it will happen).

Found this little device and automatically thought of egriz. This will tell you who UM thinks is its peers and what schools think Montana is their peer. I think it's pretty cool. This is of course strictly related to academics.

That's funny. I was told you had been banned for life by the owner of this establishment. Nice truce attempt genius.

Bisonation's idea of the Mountain Division is excellent.
For the most part, the Big Sky is a community college conference with schools like Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, Eastern Washington, Portland State, etc. UM has to get away from con man Fullerton and his Big Sky Conference.
