Who are UM's peers?

Side note: U of Idaho, According to a friend of mine, a grad of Boise State, there is no place to stay if you go to a game in Moscow.

He's full of shit. If you are going to a game in Moscow, there are plenty of places to stay. All you have to do is fly to Vegas and then not go to the game in Moscow.

NDSU & UM Presidents & marketing staff should set up a meeting with MWC presidents. Put together a presentation showing off both fanbases, athletic success & academia success. Ask for an invite & even offer to pay $5 million entrance fee & pay for 2 years of Football travel for conference members.

Bisonation......you are right on about taking the presentation to Mountain West. I think your numbers need to be re-worked, but I love your attitude.
I have been in business over 30 years and most of my growth has always come from knocking on the customers doors and asking for the business.

As a non-Montanan, you would not be familiar with the problems on this end. You have an administration supportive of football and athletics generally. UM has the polar opposite in administration and a State Board of Regents which sees UM and MSU as siamese twins.

There is a rumor floating around that the NCAA will change the criteria for an FBS moveup from an FBS conference invite to paying a fee for the right to move up. Supposedly Jim Tressel wants Youngstown ST to move up now that he has Pelini, Fullerton wants options now that Idaho is in the BSC, and other schools like Liberty and Jacksonville St might sue for the right to move up. Idaho moved to the BSC with an assurance that
part of the BSC would become FBS. The P5 will favor such a move as it would lower guarantees for them and dilute the G5 more. The NCAA knows it would lose a lawsuit, and Liberty has money to sue.

No way would Wyoming downgrade from the MWC. EWU and Portland St will attempt an FBS transition, as EWU will annouce their Gateway stadium expansiin and Portland St will either go FBS or drop football. FCS doesnt work well in big cities. The FCS will lose its upper third of teams. Idaho St, SUU, NC, Weber, and NAU will probably go to the WAC and the WAC will offer FCS. NDSU, SDSU, and USD will likely be forced to the Big Sky, as the MVC would have better options further south for TV.

"There is a rumor..."
"Supposedly..."
"...might sue for the right..."
"...with an assurance..."
"...NCAA knows it would lose..."
"...will probably go...
"...will likely be forced to..."

God GOD man, you come across as delusional with posts like this. There isn't a SINGLE fact in that entire post.
So delusional that I should quit posting! How about you?

I guess I don't understand, UNDfan. Most of us have been predicting this for years. But how or why does it impact UND? I mean, let's be honest and frank: your football program is not at the level of current FBS programs. I just don't see a split of the Power Conferences changing that. Some FCS programs are ready (Montana, Liberty, JMU, etc). But other than msu, and perhaps ewoo if they actually build a real stadium (doubtful), there isn't anyone in the BSC at that level, either in terms of competitiveness or facilities.

Your part of the delusional Griz and Bison fan base that says FBS football is like English soccer: winning means promotion and losing earns relegation. It's all about money, not winning. Fullerton himself says most of the Big Sky is moving up.

have been intending a move ever since UND signed on. NDSU and SDSU may have no choice but to join us. Portland St is going to try, and if it doesn't make a dent in the Portland scene at FBS, they'll drop fb.

So Everett Griz and 20 others don't count?

I must have missed the years that GA St, Charlotte, TX St, UTSA, FIU, FAU, and S Alabama were FCS powers to be reckoned with. So NCAA rules insist that you must be highly esteemed by media blowhards and polls before a team can move up to FBS?

You guys seem to totally disrespect what we and others can accomplish. You are more like NDSU fans than you know.

Do you honestly believe UND isn't committed to moving to FBS with their facilities, like a 300 m indoor track with a 100 m field?

I can guarantee you that EG has never said that FBS football is like English soccer. I know the man. He might have said whiskey from Kentucky is like whiskey from Tennessee, or strippers in Vegas are like investment bankers in LA, or football games in North Dakota are like basketball games everywhere else, or any other accurate comparison, but he would never say CFB is like English soccer.

I'll give you this: Griz fans don't nearly have the pot bellies of NDSU fans.

And Kathy Bates isn't nearly as hot as Mila Kunis, just in case we're shifting the thread to state obvious truths. ;)

Actually I've said quite the oppposite. On the field success has little to do with a move to FBS. Facilities, fan support and attendance are what matters. No one in the BSC outside UM (and to a much lesser degree MSU and ewoo) have even one of those things, say nothing about all 3. Hell, Foolerton can talk all he wants about half the Conf going FBS. But while 9 of the concerence's programs
total attendance for the year doesn't equal that at ONE Griz game, it ain't happening.

UM has held the conference together for years and Fullerton is desperate to keep us. He says what he thinks people want to hear.

Will the 300 m indoor track facility look like a quonset hut too?

UM and Mr Washington proved that going bigger with a stadium will raise the fan base. Montana football had nothing to write home about til Mr Washington, as MSU was the big cat in the state. UND hockey only had like 4000 a game when it was in its old arena. The REA popped up, and suddenly 11,800 sellouts have been the rule for 15 years. Many of those fans don't bother with football anymore as it seems so second class iN comparison. Some of the most important NHL stars are UND alums, (Toews, Parise, Oshie) so football does pale in comparison. Many alums come back, but they do so to go to hockey as a sort of homecoming, not football.

In addition, the bandwagon fans, most of which have hitched on to NDSU, can be enticed back if we get a new on campus stadium and win. UND values it rivalry in hockey with Minnesota and Wisconsion and would love to have a 30,000 seat luxury football stadium to actuary host the Gophers. That would take a lot of $ but UND has five alumni that are close to a billion net worth and can make it happen. UND athletics sells more ticket by far compared to the Griz or the Bison. It's great that you underestimate us so severely, as do the bison.

UNDf, no argumment, ND has a terrific hockey program. It's clearly a legit DI program.

The rest of your department is... not. And the fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter what could lead to succes. The reality is, you DON'T have a new, large stadium, one isn't under development or even in the works, and you DON'T have a fan following. Your FB program, in short, is FAR from a legit DI program, and suggesting it's FBS level is laughable.

Yes, Montana got a new stadium and found success, which it has sustained for 30 years. Its program is clearly FBS worthy. But it's the only one in the BSC who can make that claim, and foolerton knows it.

Look, when Montana moves to the FBS level, we'll glady welcome UND's hockey program into the conference. The remainder of your programs can continue to fail at the FCS level.
