there are countless things i can think of that take "stones" to do...

talking shit on an anonymous message board is not one of them.

This may be true. But NWF denying he's a cat fan is a joke. He wasn't fooling anyone before, and now that he's been out-right busted, he should at least nut-up and call himself dishonest. Shit, then he'd still be a liar, but at least he'd have a modicum of honor.

to be honest i didn't even read the context of the thread so i had no idea who it was about or what the discussion was. i just people using the term "stones" in relation to a message board and found that funny.

that said...your post had me curious and i went back and looked at NWF's posts. i'll just say that if he is really a cat fan....he's a better actor/liar than anyone on this board! he has had some posts completely bashing the cats, our fans, our stadium, and our qb. nothing out of line at all. just what you'd expect from a griz fan talking about the cats.

i just don't think anyone here is smart enough to be able to think so far in advance that he'd spend so much time bashing the team he supports just to pretend to be a griz fan. i've been wrong before however.... :o

So which way is he best? A Griz fan that looks bad or a Cat fan that looks bad.

Not to interupt y'alls "who's a liar" "who's a Bobcat" fight, which is highly entertaining, btw, but based on some previous posters thoughts about rape and reporting it a month later I thought it important to bring up a few things.

Rape is about power, not sex. I could very much see for football players that are used to having girls jump into bed with them, a few demented ones(anywhere, at any school) getting off on the idea of forcing a girl(power) to do what many girls do willingly. A rapist now has power over that woman and it makes it harder for her to report the rape. If 1 in 4 women has been sexually assaulted, how many do each of us know that have never reported the assault? How many may have worked up the courage to report the assault and confront their attacker but worried about the same doubt over the lapse in time till the reporting happened, as some have exibited in previous posts.

There's also the embarassment over "how could I let myself get in this situation"/ "how could I let this happen to me".

How many of you have had something devistating happen in your life, and its not until at least a month later that the shock/depression wears off and you are able to continue with your life? Divorce, death of a family member, ect? In these cases it is accecptable to be out of it for a while, regroup. Why expect more of a rape victim? If the allegations are true, I see no problem with the month it took.

Lastly, I'll say this, there's a saying that you can tell alot about a person if they get punched in the nose by whether they get in and fight or step away. Fighting someone that attacks you on an anonomous internet message board asside, how many of us would get in and fight or back off? Why expect more of women that get raped?

Look back at my original post calling him a liar (he is). I've linked posts from him calling himself a cat fan and msu grad. I don't think it gets much clearer.

In any event, he's only trolling anyway, so I'm not sure why I give a shit.

hence the anonymous part....

however, there are people on this board that we all know who they are....they talk serious nonsense on the daily....and that takes balls? i guess. i mean, it's possible that someone here will get so upset they'd fight one of the posters for crap they say here. the rest of us are too smart. we read the jibberish. feel sorry for the posters who have so many issues. and go about our business.... 8-)

Northwest Fresh, you are so full of shit!

You can make fun of Player Rape all day long, but you aren’t any better. No surprise that you’ve had umpteenth posts on the JJ issue in the last couple days.

I love how you try to play this “concerned citizen” role with the UM program. You are nothing more than an MSU alum, message board troll, tying stir the pot. Period. You know, I know it.

I'll say this: At least cat posters like ATL and 2506 have the stones come right out and talk smack, instead of sneaking around like a little bi-ch.

thank you. thank you very much..

A few things i know...

under-age Griz players drank back in the late 80's and 90's when i was there

under-age Griz players drank when i went back to get my Masters in the 00's
(and i assume its the same now)

what's pretty clear is that there are more incidents of players getting attention for it now than they did back in the 90s...
from what i remember, players back then were WAY better at keeping their activities on the down-low back then than they are now.

In regard to NCAA players, I think its that way all over, not just UM.
Still, there are programs where the players still keep a low profile when they should...

What year was it again, when you and NWFresh were roomies in North Hedges?

man...i LOVED my time in north hedges. unfortunately, my roomate from then transferred from the cats and doesn't pay any attention to big sky sports any more. even if northwest was a cat fan....he wouldn't be my roomate.

great times though. gotta love that year in the dorms. :thumb:

Does anyone remember the Duke Lacrosse team and the cluster f--- "rape" charges that were filed. Let's not rush to judgement for JJ or the female involved in this situation. Let due process occur. If JJ is guilty he we will be dealt with appropriately and if the female made false allegations - then shame on her and karma is a bitch. To any Bob kitten fan or other Big Sky fan that is hating on the Griz - don't throw stones from your glass house. College athletics is full of 18-24 year old males who frequently refrain from having deep critical thoughts. Young men do stupid things - especially when they are glorified for their accomplishments as an athlete and they get special treatment. :|

even if northwest was a cat fan

It ain't a question of "if". NWF is a cat fan. Period.

Think about the ridicule that catatonic took after you guys outed him on bcn for pretending for a period of time to be a cat fan. In fact, I think he ultimately got banned. Shit, nwf should consider himself lucky that we're simply saying he won't nut-up and that he has no honor. He deserves much worse.

like i said, you could definitely be right. impressive work by him because of his 500 something posts i think he has, about 300+ are bashing the cats. lot of time on his hands. bearaxed did do a great job as catatonic. ruffled a lot of feathers. is he really banned over there?

Fair on not fair, the Football players are NOT normal students. They can't act and behave like normal students. This is something I feel like a lot of players don't understand.

And I am NOT saying they are Public Figures

it's really this simple isn't it? amazed some people don't get it. if they were just students like you and i were....there wouldn't be a message board dedicated to everything they do. if you don't have a problem with the "regular" students making the news or front page of the paper when they do something awesome like volunteer at schools or at a non-profit.....then you shouldn't have a problem when they do something stupid to make the news or front page either....

Absolutely. Student athletes must be held to a higher standard than the average student. Most of them understand this. It's only the few exceptions I worry about....

I understand that student-athletes are held to a higher standard, but I don't understand why you say that they "must" be held to a higher standard.

Is it inconsistent to say that some people must be held to a higher standard like this, but everyone should be treated the same under the law (or maybe shouldn't get any favors from law enforcement)? (I don't mean to give the impression that I think people should be treated differently under the law. While I believe that some people still get cut some slack by law enforcement, I also think that some of those same people, or categories of people (like celebs), get more scrutiny and get treated tougher under the law in some situations.)

I disagree. We make or put conditions on people all the time. As a condition of their scholarship and the fact that they are often the face of a university, student athletes become defacto representatives of the University. No one would argue that the President of a University must be held to a higher standard. Why is it difficult to understand holding other representatives of the university to that standard?

Now, as far as the law, I do agree. Athletes don't have a higher standard to uphold there. But from a perception standpoint, they do.

the bottom line is being an athlete is a privledge, and with that comes standards. no one is forcing these guys to play football. but they choose to because it's a great sport....and there are MANY perks that come with being a college athlete.

there needs to be higher standards because fair or unfair, these kids represent our entire universities. take your latest rape allegations. it's all over the news. it's in the papers. it's on the message boards. it simply comes with the territory. meanwhile, there was a rape on msu's campus last night and it is getting nearly no attention at all. so sure, one could make a case that jj is getting screwed in his situation as "regular" students don't have the same scrutiny. however, the other thousands of students could make a case that it's not fair that athletes get special treatment either....

in the end, i doubt these kids would trade being a college athlete for anything. the good far outweighs the bad that comes with being an athlete on campus. but if you do stupid crap....even though other students do too...you need to understand the consequences.

imagine what a shit-show every campus would have daily if they held their athletes to the same standards as every other student. i drove by campus this morning and saw some kid still hammered, wearing a banana costume. i wouldn't want this guy to represent the cats and i'm sad that he represents msu to anyone driving by watching him walk to the dorms. :?

The problem I see is lots of Football Players don't agree with this at all. Some of them feel like they DON'T get any extra "perks" for being a Football player and instead they feel like UM and Missoula owe them something because of how hard they work to balance practice and school. That is why some players act like they can do whatever they want, they feel like the town "needs" them.

 You should have rolled down your window and yelled "Go Cats!" MSU's best and brightest
