Weber vs Griz game thread

Wanna know a secret???? This is eGriz! We're Griz fans! Big surprise that we aren't bringing up any football actions. No one here likes that crap. Last night it was your basketball team. For that matter this is a basketball forum. What in the heck does our football team have to do with that game?

My point in bringing up the football players is if we (all fans of any school) think our student athletes are perfect and that it is the other teams players that are wrong are pretty naive. I would bet that the words said between the UM and WSU players during the game, or after would make a sailor blush. Both teams players were in the wrong, not just WSU. And as I mentioned before both coaches will review the video and discipline their players accordingly.

What I want to know is, is it standard procedure on that level of play for the coach to NOT still be out there and instead be halfway to the locker room with your players still on the floor? To me that seems like a fail on Tinks part. Make sure your players shake hands and get off the floor and then go to the locker room.

Generally thought to be the responsibility of the assistants.

It's been brought up before, not sure where, but maybe they should do away with the post game handshakes. Let the coaches meet up and do the congrat's and leave the players out of the mix. This isn't rec ball.

Well that sure takes out the sportsmanship of the game.

So you are defending terrible conduct by bringing up unrelated actions of unrelated people? I think if you read eGriz you will find people pissed that the school has had so much negative publicity when most of the kids are good citizens. What would the story be, when Weber was walking off the court, the team and assistants heard the UM students yelling the "N" word at the players who were involved? Yet, they can yell "cracker" (which is just as derogatory to whites) and people find excuses.. Emotional game, heated rivalry....please. Don't know what was said and, I agree, it probably went both ways but it was a terrible way to end the game and the video shows that more than one Weber player had to continue to be restrained until they were off the court.

Anyone else notice the stupid courtside fan that had to be pushed back to his chair by one of the coaches as everyone was heading up to the locker rooms?

I am not defending anyone, I am trying to be fairly neutral. I haven't said once that UM was the only ones to blame, WSU and UM leadership have a shared responsibility to find out exactly what happened and make the correct punishment. This crap happens at all levels of sports, heck the owner of the knicks secretly recorded audio during their game to protect Carmelo Anthony. As fans we don't hear 99% what is said during the games. I don't pretend that Berry, Otis, or Cherry & Ward, etc. are angels.

I agree it was a terrible way to end a tough competitive game, but it could have been much worse (Pistons anyone). As for the comment "cracker" and flipping the bird, juvenile behavior, and I am sure Rahe will have the whole WSU team running gassers today because of it.

Frankly, I'm surprised that this isn't where we see more issues around the country. If you watch any basketball, you'll see fans in the courtside seats at nearly every venue who are VERY vocal and emotional during the game, and it's only a matter of time before an incident develops involving them and players of opposing teams.

Tinkle and Haslam are both pissed at him. And they reviewed the video to get in touch with all fans who went on to the court to have some kind of punishment. It can be great to be down there and rattle playeres (I've done my fair share of it from time to time), but that's just stupid and too far.

Ohhhh man! I just watched that again. I'm willing to bet that dude dropped a serious load in his drawers when he saw Tinks charging straight toward him!

My favorite part in reading that is this little beauty. "WSU didn’t have a timeout to set up a play to go the length of the court after forcing a Montana turnover with just over three seconds left, but Rahe said they would drawn up something similar to the play that developed." Do you think our wonderful bigsky refs know that? That was just dumb.

Without intending to defend that particular fan, I assume that UM will have to be a bit careful about how they deal with fans from that the front row chairs who may have come onto the court. Those are some of basketball's biggest supporters and contributors. Engstrom sits in that area, but didn't notice him out there separating players. Ha-ha. The game was over, and had been for probably several minutes. Some of those people went out to help ensure that fights didn't break out and to help separate what was going on, I heard--as the coaches had left the court. Unless there was some egregious behavior, I doubt that the university will do much other than tell those fans not to come out onto the court in that type of situation. I'm sure the yelling from the student section and where the Weber players were leaving the court, was much worse than anything that may have been said by fans that came out onto the court.

Well that particular fan unfortunately was doing nothing but damage. And also unfortunately the game had only just ended. He was headed right into the heat of the action to cause more problems. Fortunately Tinkle did head him off. There's just no place for that.

i took a pretty good swing at otis from up in the student section when he was walking off the floor but just clipped his jersey a little. if i landed that one there whole team was gonna get layed out by my crew cuz we would have been on top of them in about 2 seconds

Watch the last 3 sec. Watch Hendo's reaction on the bench to the officials not knowing where to place ball and start 5sec count. Priceless! He was like WTF?

Also watch Berry in hand shake completely ignore Kelly. What a prick! Who's to say that act didnt start some word exchange? I think Keron was next in line, and it looks like it started in that area.
