That does not surprise me...he was ejected at the end of the MSU game also
That was totally uncalled for. Berry and Otis should be shown the bench for their next game. There is no excuse for that punk behavior. I wii say however its been a long time since Ive seen Tinks move that fast. I think he was just about off the court when he whipped around to get guys off the floor!
were u there? details??
There were no punches thrown. The weebs coaches did s great job of man handling their players. Every single Griz stepped back two or four steps and showed class. I did see more than one head snap to when Tinks came back onto the court. There is no question the Griz wanted any part of that poor behavior shown by punk and lil punk.
I was one of the head snappers. Tinks can still move! That could have been a really ugly scene but I agree the weber coaches done a good job until our coaches showed up. Best thing I saw was Nick Emerson making a b-line for Will and dragging him out of it as soon as it turned ugly. Heads up play to keep your best player out of trouble. :thumb:

otis, berry and another weebs player in warm up gear flipped off the general admission and students as they were leaving the court. berry used a racial slur as he left as well. something about being a cracker. Most classless players i have ever seen after losing a game

Wow, really? Stay classy Weber

Great game. One of the best games of basketball I've ever seen. It was an intensive battle the whole game.

Will, and really the whole team, were tremendous tonight. The Griz showed more intensity, focus and talent than I've seen this year. I think this is the break out game, and they can play even better than this. Weber is very good. Weber is, of course, capable of beating the Griz at Weber, but I think the Griz established tonight that they are probably the better team. Weber supposedly has a long bench, but I think the UM bench is better. And with Gregory, UM would have been even better, stronger and deeper tonight.

Don't think any punches were thrown. Saw the video several times, and talked to several people. Too bad the coaches were already half way up the tunnel when it started. UM trainer, Dennis Murphy, was right in the action, separating and sorting it out. Think it was just alot of talk. Will's cousin plays for Weber. He started it, with his mouth.

Will ought to play cornerback. He could play in the NFL. A fall back in case the NBA doesn't work out.

I've gotten to be pretty close with him, and he's just a great guy. I have nothing but respect for the way he's tried to start fresh with his life. It would scare the crap out of me to have to get out of a place like that. Love seeing him wearing the Griz colors!
They all have stories and backgrounds, but this kid is fearless. Could you imagine, as a kid his age, from the prairie in MT, deciding to take a schollie in urban Baltimore? Im sure he thought we had horse covered wagons, and indians trying to knock us off, but was still willing to make that change to succeed in life? He is a very positive person, and I think he will be here even after he is done playing. He is very thankful for the opportunity he was given :thumb:
So true...but Westchester High in LA, and McClintock in the Bay area are not the Ideal..even the gangs are afraid there....gotta admire kids who see what life can be from the bottom of a generally hopeless pit. This is what makes college coaches more than just teachers of a sport to so many, whether at UM or Syracuse...or women's ball in some places like Baylor....more to bball than playing the game.
Gotcha LA +1.. Cherry and Jamar also from tough spots, but closer to home, and from areas where you can actually get away from people, within a couple hrs? But the East Coast is people forever, and no regional games or family/friends for support? Cherry and Jamar get to play in front of family/friends one or two times a year, and Keron maybe that many times in his career.. It just shows the kind of people skills Tinkle has, and they all will consider him family and will cherish their moments in Missoula forever!

I've always thought that Cherry may have picked the wrong sport, especially early in his career when he couldn't sink a free throw. He's got the body of an NFL corner. The job openings are so few and the talent pool is so deep in the NBA.

I can second that. I was there in that area too. He did use the "cracker" comment to a student as he was being escorted. Then, extremely distraught, and with tears welling in his eyes, DB looked me in the eyes and told me "I will Fu#k you up too". Within 2 seconds the coaches had him in the Locker room. I am sure he pushed out a few tears in there. Hopefully this was a learning experience for Mr. Berry.

I love the way Weber usually just comes out and plays tough and physical basketball. Nothing flashy. On the other hand, Coach Rahe needs to starts coaching his players on some post game ethics. It sounds like our Grizzly basketball players and students get in their heads pretty easy.

It's always been this way with Weber, starting with their coach Neil McCarthy who made it personal with the "Zoo." Probably the most hated coach appearing at Dahlberg Arena, and he returned the favor. It seems like it's in their genetic code now.

I know someone with a video I'd like to get ahold of

BTW - for those worrying about a loss in Ogden, while it certainly could be that way I'd like to point out a few things:

1. The officiating last night missed a lot of travels on Weber and had a few questionable ones on the Griz. If anything the calls went Weber's way. The Griz hit the free throw line more but they attacked more and Weber wasn't really upset or arguing those fouls. The Griz won last night with more questionable calls (or more specifically non-calls) going against them.

2. The Griz were without the 3rd best guard on their team. If Jordan Gregory is healthy come the next round that zone defense at the top will be even more dangerous and we'll have added back in another great pure shooter. The Griz were shorthanded last night, and still won.

3. I'm worried the Ogden game will be dirty, but I'd bet the refs and coaches will come into that game knowing it and it'll not be allowed to get that way (hopefully)

4. The Griz will probably (hopefully) not get as sloppy as they did in the last 40 seconds, if they're fortunate enough to be in the same position next time.

-----------

The game in Ogden should shape up to be another epic battle in this recent rivalry. Weber's got a little bit of a tougher road coming into that game. On paper neither team should lose another game before the next meeting. If the Griz could get there 14-0 in conference and win that game they'd be 15-0 up at least 3 games with 5 to play - that would be huge.

PSU is next though on a short road stretch, go get 'em Griz.

Rahe is good but Tinkle is better. Hope you can hold on to him for a while.

Thanks 02! You're a classy and quality poster.
Thanks Everett. I've got huge respect for the passion Griz fans have for their teams. I wish Weber had more fans with the same type of passion. I'm disappointed in the way things ended last night. Especially after such a great game. If some of the things that are said to have happened actually did, some suspensions should follow. If not from the Conference, then certainly from Coach Rahe.

I have been told by several people at the game, no punches were thrown. Both coaching staffs and rest of the players need to be commended for not turning that into something nasty worthy of Sportscenter. That was one rough and tough game. The rematch in Ogden will be epic.

Really, pot calling the kettle black a bit isn't it? UM (some football) players haven't exactly been the upstanding citizens themselves, it goes both ways, and issues happen at every campus. If any Wildcat or Grizzly fan thinks all their players (or fans...) are perfect they are delusional. Both coaches have stated they will review the footage and make the proper punishment. All I can say is was an intense game and it's going to be a battle in Ogden in two weeks.

Wanna know a secret???? This is eGriz! We're Griz fans! Big surprise that we aren't bringing up any football actions. No one here likes that crap. Last night it was your basketball team. For that matter this is a basketball forum. What in the heck does our football team have to do with that game?
