... Mandic and Mortinson of Butte signed with Tech.

I would have liked to have seen Greyson Mandic, 6-2, 235 sign with the Griz as a Full Back...he ran right threw an attempted solo tackle by Levi Janacaro of Big Sky on his way for a TD in Butte this past season.

Nate Ferguson is hoping to sign with the Griz. 6-2,210. Faster and better hands. Also Punter/kicker. He got hurt early this season. All conf and HM all-State as a Jr. in the Flathead game he has a strip sack / recovery as D end, TD catch as TE, and kicked the PAT in 3 consecutive plays. In 3 games he had more points and recieving yards than Max Morris had all year.

Would like to see UM give him a chance...

Yes, and i believe they are working on it. Many kids are happy and open to getting a PWO opportunity. Many of them come in with something to prove and prove themselves pretty quickly. I want to say both Jace Lewis and Letexier were preferred walk ons two years ago and are already making a name for themselves and have gotten scholarship money since.

With that said, I heard Hill wants to play hoops. He put up 42 points a couple weeks ago

Some connections here. Nick Walker is the Quarterbacks Coach for Dickinson State. Mike White (Aaron's dad) had a coaching stop in Plentywood in the late 90's where he coached Nick his senior season in 1997. This will be a great fit for Aaron as Nick is one hell of a football coach and mentor.

I played for a year under Nick's dad in high school. Intense man. Great coach. Didn't take crap from anyone. One of the reasons he moved around a bit. He didn't let small town politics decide his lineup and would tell a parent so, even if he was school board member. Great coach and a Great man. Never ever doubted where you stood with him. When you look back, he could be considered one of the better football and basketball coaches in Montana high school history. Also one of the greatest high school athletes ever in Montana. Part of the MMM. Mighty Malta Mustangs. Great high school team. Came to Missoula initially to be a football and basketball player.

Duane is a legend. Plain and simple.

By the way, I still to this day believe Nick was a better QB than John Edwards. He was a better athlete and had a stronger arm. The Griz defense was so elite when they won the 2001 National Championship. Nick transferred to Dickinson State after Edwards got the backup job behind Drew Miller in 2000 and went on to break every DSU passing record.

You won't get any argument from me on Nick. Both Nick and Travis are good kids. Raised right. Duane and Debbie did a great job. The sports legacy at Malta is as rich as it gets. He could be considered one of the all time greats at that school. I believe his high school quarterback was Craig Stiles. Had or still has the javelin record at UM, even though he was only there a short time. In high school he threw the javelin 240 feet at Fort Benton track meet. They had to stop all other activities when he threw because he nearly covered the whole football field.

I think If he can do what Jace Lewis did the first year. He’ll have a scholarship by spring ball I bet because I really like his tape.
