I would love to hear coach Stitt's side of this. The last thing you want as a new head coach, are D-Bag highschool coaches dragging you and your program through the mud.

Also , I if true, I am completely puzzled. When you have a 3-Star DT that is completely committed to your program, you take them. Other than corner, I don't think we have a thinner position at this point. We already have (4) WR in this recruiting class. If Ena doesn't committ, we have (0) new DT commits at this point. Am I missing something here?
I'm with you. Our depth chart for the DL is very thin. I'm going to assume coach has a plan here. I've played enough NCAA to know you can't just recruit skill position players.

Maybe this is why the Great coach stitt has been in DII for so long.... Can't wait for next season :thumb:

Wait a tick! Your pathetic bitch ass is still here? No new screen name for 2015 yet?

You are slacking.

From Local newspaper: http://www.sbsun.com/sports/2015012...on-clark-could-be-joining-his-brother-at-ucla

"While several high school athletes committed to colleges long ago, and others have been courted and are expected to make their decisions in the next week, there are other future college athletes who fall into different categories.

One of those is Carter High nose guard Kyon Clark, who originally committed to Montana but has since de-committed.

Carter coach Alex Pierce said that Clark changed his mind when Montana underwent a coaching change as former coach Mick Delaney retired.

So, what’s next? Possibly UCLA, where Clark’s brother Kenny, the former Sun Defensive Player of the Year, was a standout sophomore defensive lineman last season.

According to Rivals.com, Clark is scheduled to make a visit to UCLA this weekend although Pierce could not confirm that. Although there has been no official offer yet, UCLA is the only possibility out there for him other than Montana. Rivals has Clark listed as a three-star recruit."

I can imagine a scenario where Mr. Clark, on the advice of his coach, decommitted to pursue other offers (UCLA is a "no brainer") - the assumption being that Montana would still take him in lieu of other offers. Perhaps, in an attempt to mitigate his bad advice (as there are no other offers), coach Pierce then attempts to contact the new Montana staff, but is continually rebuffed with the message that the new staff is unavailable as they are "out, recruiting". Pierce then, irritated by his inability to "fix it" lashes out at the new Montana staff (to deflect responsibilty for his bad advice) and bans them from his school.

Mr Clark and coach Pierce would do well to remember the old proverb that "one in the hand, is worth two in the bush".... particularly when the evidence suggests there are none in the bush.

I think the message is, "decommit at your own risk, we at Montana are serious about our football, if you don't want to be here, that's ok. We wish you well, but don't call back when you change your mind, again."

I'm surprised by the rancor. I don't think any reasonable coach expects an incoming staff to be beholden to the outgoing staffs offers and I don't think Delaney's impending retirement was a secret. I would think that info was conveyed at the time the offer was made.

not a bad theory but you're leaving out haslam's reassurance to each commit that we would honor our offers.

If a recruit decommitts, there is no obligation to be there if they change their mind.

reference the handling of Woody Brandoms offer.

This is naive as hell (from the article):

“It’s just bush league in my opinion,” he said. “I know they do that stuff at Division II colleges where they move guy’s scholarships around based on how much playing time they’re getting and everything else, but that is usually not a Division I mentality.”

In division one is much worse and much more cutthroat.

regardless of which coach did this or that, when a major university is banned from the high school campus,,,that my friends is bad p.r. , no matter what the circumstances are....

reading the last article it could be that the coach gave Clark advice that did not pan out and Stitt would not take him back. He is using the only recourse he can....if the kid backed out Stitt has no obligation to take him back. I look forward to coach being able to give his side of the story.

WOW I have never seen a more butthurt coach in my life...what a pussy. This shit happens, its not high school anymore, where your coaches hold your hand and pat you on the back for trying, my god...this is big time college football, this shit happens all the time. New coaching regime comes in and changes the playing philosophy, doesn't have a need for the kid...booo hoo.....I find it hilarious that a high school coach thinks he can ban a College Div 1 program....that will do nothing but hurt his kids in the future. This guys sounds like a first class douche bag!

Seriously IMO you decide you don't want to give a kid a scholly...give him a call and say we've decided to go in another direction with your scholly..best of luck to ya......END OF FUCKING CONVO....nothing more needs to be said......and ya maybe this kid does end up playing for MSU that way hell get his scholly in the state of Montana and also be done playing by thanksgiving weekend and have time to go to DisneyLand before December and get his ass powdered by his old high school coach in time for the new year.....WIN WIN

a lot of you seem to be glossing over the facts. badlands, it's rare that an a.d. will send out a reassurance that a school will honor its scholarship offers and then not do it...twice. during the time haslam said that and stitt was hired these players could've been aggressively looking at other schools. this was a bad move and is a black eye. haslam has some explaining to do. he never should've said anything about honoring those offers. that just makes this look that much worse.

Well in my opinion...if I were a head coach...I would be damned if I ever let what the freaking AD says to recruits dictate the players I attempt to bring in to play for my program...last I checked Haslam wasn't drawing up plays or putting in the schemes this summer....so if I were Stitt I would tell Haslam and his promises...thanks for trying to help out but now you can kindly fuck off and let me take this baby over....I like what Stitt is doing.

Almost Hauck like one might say!

It seems to me that the people getting "butt hurt" over this matter are some egriz posters. There is and needs to be some ethics involved in life, including football recruiting. Some people, coaches and schools have more ethics than others. I don't know the facts of this situation, so won't comment on the situation.

High school coaches and schools have "banned" college football recruiting/coaches in the past. This isn't unprecedented. In fact, I believe that some Oregon schools were so irked with the treatment of JJ by the UM administration that they said they would not allow recruiting at their school(s).

It would be interested to learn what the facts were in this situation. The "press" UM is getting over this isn't helpful, but, of course, life will go on for all parties.

That's just ridiculous...you make a decision that your college career will be pushed forward and revolve around college football....well than you sure as hell better be ready to accept
college football decisions....

The facts seem pretty clear even without getting Stitt's side of it.

HS Coach advises Kid to "play the field" and decommit from the University of Montana in order to get a "bigger, better deal." Kid decommits and blames the "coaching change." Montana says "fine, it's your choice" and moves on.

Kid doesn't get anything else. HS Coach can't find any offers for kid. HS Coach starts calling UM trying to save his face. UM's moved its promises to other players who were "committed." HS Coach knows that how it works. No program has the time resources for dilettantes who can't make up their mind, recruiting season is ending, schollies are committed.

Kid's parents erupt on HS Coach. Good kid has nowhere to go thanks to genius strategy of HS Coach who assured them he knew how "this game is played." HS Coach goes into major CYA mode. It's UM's fault! Yeah. That's it! It's so bad, he's banning UM from the High School.

This was a story concocted entirely for internal consumption at the High Skool, where "Coach" got embarrassed by his own failed strategy, had angry parents calling for his head, and needed to blame someone somewhere else. It is C......S....

How do you know that is what happened? The second article said that Clark de-committed because of the coaching change...hence Stitt has no obligation to honor anything if he came back and said he wanted to come to Montana

To think this is bad PR is laughable in my opinion. To me it just sounds like the coach is upset that things didn't go his (er... his player's) way. Time to move on.

I'm not sure we know the timeline; did this kid "decommit" and then UM went different direction or did UM pull the offer first. I've read both articles and they give two different scenarios.

Sorry, didn't see Putter's post addressing same issue.

Has to be more to this story... Guessing Kyon had zero intent or desire in signing with UM. Simply using the Griz as leverage. I'm sure Stitt gave him a chance, but ultimately said screw it and called his bluff. I like the move. Good luck, Kyon....

You're right. That evil kid and coach had planned all along not to commit to UM and drag your programs name through the mud! Poor innocent griz program... Pull your head out of your rectum.

Huh?? Its not uncommon for kids to use verbals as leverage to get other offers. think you're reading into something I didn't imply. But whatevs dude.
