UND mascot you pick it

The North Dakota Rough Riders....It pays homage to Teddy Roosevelt who has a National Park named after him in western North Dakota near Watford City. It has some historical revrance to the days when North Dakota was a territory and then a new state. Logo could be of a horse with soldier atop it. It could work. I know the Rough Riders didn't actually come from North Dakota or were even stationed there but the tie in to Theodore Roosevelt Park is undeniable. Curious when North Dakota is due to actually come out with their new name and logo.
 
Someone suggested The Angry Oles and The Fighting Leenas the last time this topic came up. Might be too politically incorrect though.
 
I like the freak'n frackers or the rig pigs. Either that or the threshers.
They could be the flames. You can see from outer space all those wells flare gas. They could use blue oyster cult's burning for you as their fight song.

I don't know how many of Faithful get the relevance of this one... but since I'm HAPPILY now the EX-MAYOR of Forsyth and know of whom it was named... I understand it completely. However... it was in South Dakota... against the Lakota Souix.
 
Excuse my language but these political correct name changing ninnies are a bunch of PUNKS! Wont be happy until there are no more nicknames and every last mascot has been put down. Fact is siouxs are a proud type of prairie spook and the name is meant to honor them as such.

Or perhaps... Clowns. Why? Unique name, uniform possibilities wide open, and, face it, clowns are just plain scary. Plus it would save team travel costs. You can fit a whole lot of them fellas in a tiny bus.

If by "huggers" you mean the over 21 American Indian groups that have petitioned to have the name changed, the Sioux tribes that did not give permission to have the name continued, and then the 67% of North Dakota voters who selected to have the name retired... then yeah, I get ya. :roll:

I think the Souix name is ment in honor. Nonetheless it has been voted to be changed. So I say University of North Dakota Rangers.
