A little background on a couple of them..

Nokota is the state horse, not to be confused with Nakota which is a branch of the Sioux tribe.

Roughriders is a popular choice, but is also a the nickname of a high school in Grand Forks, which is my biggest argument against it.

I believe by state law (don't get me started on that) the new nickname can't be chosen until 2015.

I like it, with one small modification: The UND Fighting Seventh Cavalry, and change the school sone to 'Garry Owen.'

The University of North Dakota Nakotas, with a horse logo....I like it

Look around when you go to the game, and you will know what to call them, "the Fighting Sioux". The emblem, made by a Sioux artist, will be everywhere. If you go to Grand Forks, make sure you visit Englestad Arena, home of UND Hockey
