UM Vs Dawns Game Thread

(2) When Cherry returns, cut Deshields minutes more than Henderson's and Gregory's. Gregory is calm, consistent, solid defender, ball handler, and leader. I really like everything he brings to the table. Henderson is a difference maker defensively, and his offense is starting to become dependable too. Deshields, is so inconsistent, and nobody knows what to expect. The kid can play some defense though.

He can play defense but I think Gregory has passed him up on the defensive side, too. The way Gregory played the last two games, despite the losses, has really showed how far he has come since last year. I really thought Keron was going to blossom this year, and he still might, but Gregory has shown more determination come game time and his defense on Daws was stellar in the BYU game. Broke Daws' 20-point game streak in a game where they were getting most of the shots they wanted. He also looks more controlled on his drives than Keron does thus far.

I agree, and did not mean to sell Gregory short. His demeanor is so calm. He is a hard guy to get off track. Gregory is a rock out there.

...no inside game

our 'Sky opponents are well aware of our lack of paint play....can KJ and the return of Cherry change that??

not feeling real good about our progress thus far....

Grizrule-post of the season so far! Spot on! ! Rouge u r spot on Gregory! Cooler heads will prevail "my own" ! Just having a tough time with it!! The boys are good, just hate the growing panes!

I sure hate to see Will Cherry miss this much, have to come back and try so hard, and maybe rehurt himself this year to get a 15-16 seed and maybe never get a chance at the big league! This is a rebuilding year! Next year he can come back bigger and better, and be a senior with Keron and recruit jc big guys and everyone else that much better, and redshirt dunn and Bradshaw, and???????????????

Yeah, as bad as it sounds I've been hoping that Cherry takes the rest of the season to heal. Pretty much everyone returns with another year of experience under their belts, no lingering problems or questions about Will being back to 100%, bring in or further develop a post presence, do-over on the OOC schedule and hopefully build a better resume (much easier to knock off a 4-7 seed than a 1-3 seed). Only negative, of course, is that would be a big "F-you" to Ward and basically be throwing in the towel for this year.

It's crazy to think the little difference between facing a beatable opponent and one that would be nearly impossible to beat. Had the Griz only lost to BYU, I could see us getting from a 10-12 seed. However, with the losses to CSU, BYU, and USF I wouldn't see us getting anything better than a 14 seed. And that's assuming best case scenario where the Griz manage a good win over SDSU and win-out in conference. Realistically, the SDSU game will be tough and the Griz will probably drop another game or two (or few  ) in conference. Is that what we want Cherry to come back to and send him away with?

Watching the Dons play St Johns on ESPN3 right now. USF is up by 7 right now with 8:49. Good game right now. Makes me a feel a little better about our loss.

Doolin (Sp?) is a one-man wrecking crew in this game. St. John's can't stop him. Getting to the hoop at will and killing them with nice passes.

2:49 Left and it's 72-60 Don's. Sound familiar? Sure looks about like the same game.

hmmm, maybe we should have scheduled St. John's...not their best year, either.

The Don's win by 16. St. John's may not be ranked but I am going to guess they are a fair shake higher in the polls than the Griz. Nice with for SF.

Exactly. The griz actually looked better on Defense than St. John's.

I think SF is a lot better than people expected them to be after they lost most of their big contributors from last year's 20 win season.

They ended up beating St Johns 81-65. Parker (Transfer from UCLA) had 21, Doolin had 18 points and 14 assists. Dickerson didn't have a big game like he did against us though, he had 6 points and 8 rebounds. Against us he had 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Yeah, St. John's had an answer for Dickerson unlike us. Doolin was the key. At least in the half I watched. He was pretty great.
