UM is ranked first in the conference in scoring defense (19.6). This is 15th in the nation.

No. 1 in red zone defense (by a wide margin), as well as tied for 1st in nation with Towson. 2d in defense against first downs.

UM has given up the fewest TD's.

4th in total defense (357). 2d in rushing defense (115.6), .8 behind SU. 7th in pass defense. 5th in pass efficiency defense.

1st in interceptions. Goodwin is 1st in passes defended, and tied for 2d in interceptions. 1st in turnover margin (and 7th in nation).

Wagenmann is 1st in fumbles forced and 4th in tackles for loss. Tully is 1st in fumbles recovered.

Cats did not let nau inside the 25. That is how you win games!! But keep puffing yourself up with stats. The only stat that is important right now is 2-0.

Cats have 2 losses, including to a bad team. UM has 1 loss. Keep dreaming that the Cats are a great team this year. They either aren't or haven't shown it yet. NAU would have beaten the Cats if they had played at NAU a week ago, and the Griz would have beaten NAU had they played them yesterday. Monmouth, Colo Mesa and SMU (their only win is against the Cats).

 whatever you say little brother!! I am just glad the cats were there to save face for all of montana. 2-0 little brother.... 2-0!!
69-37-5 little sister....69-37-5

How's McGhee? I hear he got hurt again, in the game in the 4th quarter of a 36-7 blowout...

I think you need to do some more research. He is fine!! Again thank the cats for saving face for all of montana.

From the ESPN game summary:

McGhee was injured early in the fourth quarter and didn't return. He finished 7 of 18 for just 72 yards and an interception. It was his first interception of the season. He ran for 36 yards on eight carries.

So you believe everything you read on face value? You probably still think the griz have a solid D based on what you read after the opsu game.

Well, I'll believe what I read in ESPN over the drivel you post.

I never said it did little brother. There are still plenty of opportunities for qb's to pad their stats against the griz secondary.

You can get all excited for your 2-0 conference start, but you'll still get steamrolled in the playoffs like you always do. :coffee:

p/r,,,thank you for taking your time to research and post the above,,,some people are easily confused by the facts.....it was nice to have read football before the thread went south...

Gregorak acknowledged some bad tackling and other D issues. Obviously the staff knows where we need shoring up. One can only assume thing will improve. Unless you start 11 seniors, it's realistic to expect improvement as they gain experience. I'm pretty happy at the moment because the have a great attitude.

NDSU is VERY beatable as UNI just demonstrated. I'm sure their staff is currently wondering how they entered the fourth quarter down...

As for the Cats, yes they are very good. And unfortunately only one hit on MCGhee from being just pretty good. Doubtful they have the depth to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

As of yesterday Montana has given up 1207 passing yards while our little sisters over east have given up 1243. Just an observation...little sister.

Well, yeah, but but but....the 'scats have played powerhouses like Monmouth and Colorado Mesa. So, you can understand why their stats might be inflated somewhat.

Cats held Colo Mesa to 41 passing yards.

JMO. Stats are great for comparison later in the year when there are more common opponents to base the stats on. Right now the stats are purely argumentative when comparing 2 teams.
