UM / College Transfer Portal

Making assumptions that they couldn't find a team at the FBS level. Spanky maintaining his narrative that no one would transfer to FCS unless they had to, but sometimes they want to based on their circumstances. Kids transfer for a variety of reasons.

It’s good that Helena will continue to share his vast knowledge about football. Most people understand that players transfer for a number of reasons, but thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Truth is -players want to play FBS and that is no closely held secret. It is also true that some players initially offered FBS are better suited to play FCS. Griz need those players.

He was really good in their bowl game. Griz could absolutely do worse for a bridge QB to Britt/Huot/(Vidlak, maybe?). And yes, I'm excluding Brown from this convo. He's just not FCS starting material.
Look at his numbers for the entire month of November. They're pretty impressive!

So why then, is it “pretty clear” he’s not going to be the starter next year? (I mean, other than the obvious fact that he’s entered the portal… )

IDK, I don't always understand coaches decision making. Probably got a phenom Freshmen or something.

Was hoping this might happen, Peyton Brammer’s high school teammate, stud receiver went to UDub last year. The Griz also had Levi Crum of Brush Prairie committed, curious if anyone knew more about Crum?

Crum I think left the team but was a walk on safety for us.

Was really a high profile recruit. Top 25 in the nation at his position (ATH) in high school. Adding weapons like this should help leverage bringing in a solid QB.

Dude had a dozen offers out of HS including Michigan and many other FBS. This is a great pick up!

This high profile transfer addition is H U G E.

Last season, with the losses of Toure, Sulser and eventually Akem (the 3 best Griz recievers), UM threatened ABSOLUTELY NO DEFENSES with their pedestrian leftover recievers. UM's offense was continuously MANNED UP in single coverage, which allowed an extra defender to stop the run. That was painful to watch, knowing we put as much fear into defenses as a turtle puts into a cheetah on a sprint race. We need some recievers to put the fear of God into those DBs and back them the Fukk up and be a threat to pass (at any depth) and run effectively. WR help was a glaring need this off season. Way to go coaches!!

Don't think it's quite as dire as you describe. Sulser may be back, Bergen will be a very good receiver this year, Keelan White showed a lot as a frosh. All with WR speed. Grossman and Roberts are excellent possession receivers. But agree, this is a great addition, big kid; yet to see if he has the speed you're asking for.

Brammer, Crum and Racanelli all committed to MT out of HighSchool, only Crum came a Preferred Walkon then left the team and Racanelli jumped to UW

I think you might have Racanelli and Camden Sirmon mixed up. Racanelli had multiple pac12 amd MW offers out of high school.

Yep you are correct Racanelli went to UW out of Highschool but was being heavily recruited by MT

This must be false. I was told by Spanky that kids like this don't transfer to FCS.

I think it is highly unusual Helena, but good for the young man and our coaching staff. I do wonder about the circumstances and whether or not he has a NIL contract in place? In any event, I’m glad I was wrong!

Maybe.

Personally, I think there will be 3 transfers/jucos coming in. That will give us 5 as Brown and Patterson will move on.
