Two Game Suspension...

This discussion could go on forever, which doesn't appeal to me. So I'll make one final response and then move on.

First of all, I'm not suggesting that you lack integrity. I will be honest and admit that I am suggesting that fans who desire the coach, AD, or other University officials to turn a blind eye or give preferential treatment to Justin Strong in this case probably do lack integrity.

My claim that the relevant University personnel acted with integrity has nothing to do with the length of the suspension given. Nor am I making the claim based on my knowledge of the legal facts of the situation.

I am saying that they acted with integrity because their response to the situation is consistent with their team, departmental, and institutional values. No, a lesser suspension wouldn't necessarily negate their integrity. No, a longer suspension wouldn't necessarily reinforce their integrity. No, additionally revealed facts wouldn't change my opinion of this. Based on the information they had, in light of their principles, and in keeping with the expectations and repercussions set forth in the student-athlete handbook, they did the right thing. And for that, I applaud them.

Go Griz.

This might just be the single most best post ever on eGriz.

I love the masculine mentality...

"HOW COULD HE HAVE NOT FOUGHT?! HE HAD TO PUNCH HIM AND THEN PUNCH HIM AGAIN WHEN HE WAS GETTING UP! WHAT OTHER CHOICE DID HE HAVE?!"

What would the feminine mentality be?

Feel free to reference basically any case where a woman gets sexually assaulted, domestically assaulted, etc.

Gonna go ahead and go out on a limb and say most don't instantly react violently

not saying it's correct. I just find it humorous that the instant conflict resolution plan among men is to fight.
Humans are animals genetically programmed to defend themselves. Quit making this more than it is or putting some emotion element to it.

"The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment", if it is still in print is a good read. Can't remember the Author's name.

" Blind Your Ponies", I believe by Stanley Gordon West is a terrific book about small town Montana athletics.

Finally, "When the Legends Die" by Hal Borland. Another great read that's been forgotten!

I loved the book. Ended in Bozeman with the DeWeese family. Gretchen DeWeese was in my high school class. Have no idea if there was any connection. Just in process of getting good books for Cole Bergquist. He asked for books that I loved. Liars Poker, Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, Zen. Haven't decided on 4th one. Maybe One Flew Over Cuckoo's Next, Bell Jar, Diary of a Part Time Indian, Godfather. Give me some ideas. Was going to get him 4 or 5. Cole apparently reads a lot.

Going to be very difficult to top this as a POTY, gentlemen.

POTM - post of the millennium - & so nicely played Ursa. Now get back out there & hurry that fermentation along.
Too good for this dive — I hope he has a wider venue for his talents — but PR’s post begs the question, “How could he have read books like those and still remain so resolutely immune to their edifying influence?"

Keila: Tell Gwen and Dillon to look for SCOOP here!

"Pullman Police Detective Sgt. Jake Opgenorth said Monday that he is in the process of finalizing a report of the investigation for review, after which it will be sent to Whitman County prosecutors. He said he will recommend the felony assault charge against Strong.

“Our investigation is pretty much complete,” Opgenorth said. “Right now we only anticipate asking for charges against Mr. Strong.”

Opgenorth said the police report will likely be submitted to prosecutors next week."

Why would the police disclose this at this point? Why not judge submit the report to prosecutors?

I assume Strong has a good lawyer who has already been communicating with the prosecutors, who will make the charging decision.

It was nice of the Pullman police to take so long that Strong could play more games after his suspension.

"Opgenorth said that after speaking with multiple witnesses, he believes there were a number of people involved in the fight, but he said that the only person they were able to identify is Strong.

He said based on the investigation, they determined that there is a probable cause for assault. It will now be up to Whitman County prosecutors to officially file charges.

Opgenorth said that the Pullman Police Department spoke with about a half a dozen witnesses during the investigation. He said one of the reasons the investigation took several weeks is because they had to track down witnesses in different cities and states. Opgenorth said there is not enough evidence to request charges against other people.

He said that he is hoping to turn in a complete report to the Whitman County prosecutor's office by December 18."
