Tripp: JJ is best we're going to see all year, bar none

SACCAT66 said:
What is Tripp suppose to say "He is pretty good, but not the best we will face" That is like asking a bobcat player on D if they will see anyone better than DM this year...Every team thinks they are the Best (well maybe not Idaho State or the Chicago Cubs).

HaHa! The Cubs......

Surely you mean "JJ" being Jamal Jackson, senior QB from App State, right? 8-)

It's getting close men, August 31st - LESS THAN TWO WEEKS and I get to visit the great state of Montana for the first time! Looking forward to WaGriz Stadium as well. What a kick ass stadium!

Good defense video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUkl-QiHe9s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That video would be a lot more impressive if it showed more than Chattanooga defensive shots. I mean, that QB shot was the main feature, nice hit, but come on is THAT ALL YOU GOT?! :coffee:

Better bring it, JJ is the best you'll ever see, ever!

Did A E ever beat the Griz?

Best ever? Have you heard of a former FCS QB named Armanti Edwards?

As in shut up and play the games and don't talk about anyone on your team being "the best" until it's been proven on the field. 5 -6 teams should keep quiet and let their actions on the field reflect their talent level.

"95" ring a bell? That was back when we were undersized, underskilled Montana with a little old QB that really might have been "the best" and had played the season before at a very high level. Yes, the poster that year said "Legend of the Fall" but will always recall Don Read's ablity to downplay his teams' talents and prop up the opposition. He liked to lay in the weeds as much as possible and avoid huge overexpectations. Now seems like our team, fans and local media can't wait to create them....then bitch and moan if the team loses a couple.

Answer your question?

mickey makes a good point.

Delaney does the exact same thing. If you've ever heard an interview where the reporter asks about the competition he always gives tons of credit and downplays the Griz. His responses are spitting-image Read.

And who cares about what the fans think? The reason we have the problem of the fans and local media providing all the hype is because of what Read created. It's the other edge of that sword and you're looking to put it back in the scabbard.

How the team handles themselves and what the fans/media say are two completely different things.

It is unusual for a coach to be fired after making an appearance in the Big Dance, but Griz fans have high expectations. I know I do. It seems that we have been mired in mediocrity the last few years. A change is probably for the better, even if Holst is a good guy.
Damn it....you two need to quit taking shots at Bdrizzle.

I won't tolerate it

Mousegriz, sorry to disappoint you, but the 95' season was all hyped up from DAY ONE! The Griz had plenty of "talkers" and cocky guys on that team. Ever hear of Mike Erhardt? He was one of the best trash talkers the Griz have ever had. Just because DD wasn't a "talker" doesn't mean that team didn't have em' or was underhyped! In 1994, the Griz went to the semifinals with a banged up DD in the playoffs, and it's my belief that if he could have played at Youngstown, that game is a totally different outcome. You make it sound like the 95' team came out of nowhere and nobody had ever heard of em. That's just simply not true.

As long as players perform on the field, who gives a rats ass what they say? They are still young guys, having fun playing a sports that's SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!!!!

totally agree with this. I will always have the players backs when it comes to this and celebrations. people need to loosen up

Who the f'k cares what some 22 year old has to say about his teammate. JJ Is a good QB. There are a few good QBs on the schedule this year, too.

Agreed.

It goes back to the BS people were spouting about Gratton having "FTC" on his arm last year in the Brawl. Let the players do what they want. They're the ones actually playing the game. No need to get offended for someone, or about something stupid.

Don't bother with the Cats trolls. Think catamount_man, but even more personal problems

Which part was me "trolling", the part about the video lacking in substance OR the part about JJ being the best they're "going to see all year, bar none"? Just asking. 8-)

“It’s one of those things where you have to keep learning. Jordan Johnson is the best we’re going to see all year, bar none I’ll say that right now. That offense and Jordan, nobody is going to throw a nicer ball than that kid right there and nobody is going to be a better leader, so it’s fun to play against the best.”

From Missoulian article on today's scrimmage

Stupid statements Like this are made when smoke is continually blown up your ass!! After watching MSU and Eastern Washington, It is likely that JJ is at least third-best in the big sky!!

It will be a legitimate arguement. Right now Vernon Adams looks like a world beater, better than Mcghee and we'll see what JJ shows but right now he's looking sharp too.

This Buttesportsfan dumbass doesn't even read well enough to know the quote was from a UM player. Really, is smoke continually being blow up Jordan Tripp's ass. What an idiot. I hope he's not from Butte, because he would be giving Butte a bad name.

Wanted to pull something up from early season. JJ has been great but Mr. Tripp and his defense seem to be struggling against guys that "bar none" just aren't nearly as good.

I'm not looking for any more clips but recall our defense patting itself on the back alot in the press this preseason.

Do you expect a public apology or something? It's football for christs sakes. Football players are going to speak confidently regardless. Why bump this? If Tripp is asked about the UM defense tomorrow in the presser, I hope to hell he speaks cocky and brashly.

This was a stupid bump, and frankly what Tripp said is still correct (in my opinion).

Can you imagine what JJ would do to this secondary.........?

We saw it in camp. :?

I'm looking for better defense.....don't expect an apology and not intending to call out Tripp. This preseason just stuck in my head as one where lots of our guys were blabbing about themselves in the press before one game had been played. Especially after last season, this seemed a good one to keep the mouths zipped and let your play on the field
speak for you. Let's get going Griz D!!
