Tripp: JJ is best we're going to see all year, bar none

I think someone should go through the JJ threads from his 1st year starting. If, I recall, a small minority thought he did not have what it takes. The majority were pretty neutral on his future, and as the season progressed, seen his future as bright with the GRIZ. Most liked his versatility, and leadership. The only consistent negative on him was his arm strength.

I also recall Alpha was the 1st to coin "play maker", and was his biggest advocate from the get go. I also only recall a few egrizzers going overboard and bashing JJ's ability and future. However, to think there were only a few advocating and supporting JJ that season is ridiculous. By the time the playoffs came, JJ's bandwagon was pretty full. That bandwagon got even fuller after more egrizzers realized how damn good he did, after experiencing inconsistent QB play last season from other QB's.

Like it or not, that bandwagon is big, and has room for everyone to enjoy a phenomenal season led by JJ. Can't wait for the season to kickoff.

I recall the biggest complaint having anything to do with JJ was Pflu burning his redshirt for not much playing time in 2010...not that it matters now

Quite possibly. Of course, perhaps DM is a little better, but who the hell would know, since you guys only play Senior Sisters of the Blind (until the playoffs, where JJ has clearly been the better of the two).

DM isn't in JJ's league. It's not even close!!

Hey, hey, hey, down bronco, who said anything about DM? We are all hearing about JJ being on the Payton watch list and setting all time BSC records. So shhhhhhhhhhh! :coffee:

Yep. Griz have the best QB, best O and best D in the conference. I'm not sure why they are even going to play the games. :)

P.S - There was a reason why your D gave up a ton of passing yards last year and it wasn't all the secondary's fault. Look at the LB (drop) and middle of the field and you will see why. Your LB's sell out to stop the run (run/pass blitz) and often get engulfed in the pile leaving the middle of the field wide open. If you don't believe me then check out some game film of the UND/MSU/NAU/SUU games. So your secondary can improve all they want but until they have super human speed to guard that much turf area teams are going to pass on you over the middle all day (due to front 7 aggressive scheme). Anyone see a wide open Floeketter 5-6 times over the middle in the Cat/Griz game? How about UND's Hardin? Where did he catch most of his passes? Was UM in man to man on those plays? Just saying. :)

I would run 75% play action off the Griz which is why I like Mcghee up under center sometimes more. I do think having JJ up under center will be great for the Griz on play action though as you can hide the handoff/conceal much better up under center.

I agree to some extent but a lot of times last year our LB's were out covering receivers when they should have brought in some extra DB's. The game against UND was the worst. I couldnt believe how we just let our LB's hang out to dry like that and our D-Coordinator did nothing about it.. Hopefully that will change this year.

Surely you mean "JJ" being Jamal Jackson, senior QB from App State, right? 8-)

It's getting close men, August 31st - LESS THAN TWO WEEKS and I get to visit the great state of Montana for the first time! Looking forward to WaGriz Stadium as well. What a kick ass stadium!

Good defense video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUkl-QiHe9s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That video would be a lot more impressive if it showed more than Chattanooga defensive shots. I mean, that QB shot was the main feature, nice hit, but come on is THAT ALL YOU GOT?! :coffee:

Better bring it, JJ is the best you'll ever see, ever!

Best ever? Have you heard of a former FCS QB named Armanti Edwards?

That last poster was a MSU Bobcat trolling on our board. Don't let them get you thinking that we are stupid, like they are. ;)

Oh yeah, the guy we sent off with a "L?" :coffee:

Why do Griz and local media have to create the usual "almost too high" expectations this year? We will be better. I'm one who believes it could be a great season but not sure why we have to give locker room material to all the teams we're going to play. JJ "the best" the most recent bizarre quote by Tripp. Maybe accurate but is JJ lacking of confidence and need to be propped up...or do we just want the DM's of the conference wondering about such a preseason quote?

Last week our "good" defense was looking to be "great" this year according to Missoulian. Again, I hope and think this is a strong possibility....and also a good thing to write about in 12 weeks or so.

It sure seems like a great year to lay in the weeds and keep quiet after last season. But guess that's not the Griz way anymore.

Don't bother with the Cats trolls. Think catamount_man, but even more personal problems

As in shut up and play the games and don't talk about anyone on your team being "the best" until it's been proven on the field. 5 -6 teams should keep quiet and let their actions on the field reflect their talent level.

"95" ring a bell? That was back when we were undersized, underskilled Montana with a little old QB that really might have been "the best" and had played the season before at a very high level. Yes, the poster that year said "Legend of the Fall" but will always recall Don Read's ablity to downplay his teams' talents and prop up the opposition. He liked to lay in the weeds as much as possible and avoid huge overexpectations. Now seems like our team, fans and local media can't wait to create them....then bitch and moan if the team loses a couple.

Answer your question?

What is Tripp suppose to say "He is pretty good, but not the best we will face" That is like asking a bobcat player on D if they will see anyone better than DM this year...Every team thinks they are the Best (well maybe not Idaho State or the Chicago Cubs).
