Tommy Mellott > Dave Dickenson

Won the Payton Award
Never lost to his cross state rival
Won a National Championship.

Sounds like Dave Dickenson to me.

Mannnn....the scats were almost able to retire a jersey! 🤣🤣🤣

...well, they did, they just have to cancel the ceremony they had planned for it!!

Tommy was the only Bobcat I kind of felt sorry for when they lost, but after watching him run 10 yds out of bounds to tip over a Bison trashcan and saying, "the better team lost'. I'm more inclined to just lump him in with the rest of Bobcats and their fans.
I didn’t watch the post game presser. I’m sure he is disappointed, but as well as he has conducted himself for 4 years that is a huge sour note to go out on.

I guess he’s not so classy at all when everyone isn’t stroking his ego with every statement. Funny how that works with some.
I can't really quantify it, but I sort of got the feeling from a couple of his responses in interviews this year that he isn't quite as humble as a lot of people want to make him out to be. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just feel like too many people put the kid on a ridiculous pedestal that he's bound to fall off of sometime.

And, just in case I haven't said it loud enough or long enough yet, the original post in this thread was utter ridiculousness.

DD had as many passing yards in one season as Tommy did his entire career. And that’s without playoff stats counted. DD had almost 20 more TDs than Tommy did in his highest year this year.

DD received a heisman vote.

DD NEVER lost to the Cats

DD WON a national title.

The two aren’t comparable. Idk why cats can’t just enjoy their thing. They were both great. But they are not the same.

Agreed. Big fish, tiny pond syndrome. Someone should let him know he’s a fringe NFL talent to begin with, and owners/GMs don’t look for reasons to spend money on fringe guys. They look for reasons not to. Put another way, there are likely 30+ other guys with his skill set who don’t disrespect opponents when everything isn’t going perfectly. I doubt his behavior yesterday did him many favors in that regard. 🤷‍♂️

In every competitive athlete, there is a bit of an a-hole streak.

The team that wins is always the better team, that day, by definition. The Cats were outplayed, out coached, less physical and made more mistakes. The Bison game plan worked well to get the lead, and allowed them to hold the lead. I'm sure it was emotional for Tommy but the better team did win.
