Time to Weed the Program

I think NDSU also started offering full cost of attendance scholarships a few years ago. UM does not provide full cost of attendance.

North Dakota also produces fewer D1 football players on average than Montana, at least in part due to a smaller population. I recall that was one of the reasons that the Montana-North Dakota all-star game, which Montana dominated, was cancelled.

Well sure. When the two Montana schools have a combined 100+ Montana kids on their rosters (whether they belong there or not), then it will ALWAYS appear that Montana produces more D1 players. It’s due largely to the Montana schools’ misguided belief that more Montana players is better.

We looked slow and unathletic on Saturday. There’s really only one way to fix that, and it’s not by recruiting more kids from Montana that should be playing Frontier ball (even if they DO come on as walkons).

UM has more speed than NDSU, by the way. UM likes MT kids because they set good examples and lead the team in work ethic, meaning lead as leaders. Also, UM, and MSU, can't afford to pay for out-of-state tuition of lots of out of state scholarship players.

Yeah. No. It’s obvious you didn’t watch the game Saturday. Our defense was run through, around, over and by all game. Our CB couldn’t catch their RB. Nobody on the D could catch their QB. Their athleticism/speed was on a different level than the Griz and that was plain to see.

I'm talking about overall team speed. It's just a fact.

I’m talking about game speed. It’s just a fact. Right there in color for all to see for 3 and 1/2 hours.

I don’t think the commies are the ones leaving California.
You don't think the communists are the ones buying up all the multi-million dollar mega ranches around here?

Huh. News to me.

Get this bullshit off of the football forum… You all think you're funny but you don't actually know what communism or socialism really is if you are referring to Democrats, all you're trying to do is use some bad scary words to demonize a group of people who may not agree with you on everything politically because you are incapable of actually using your words of having public debate

I'm sorry, but I though the obvious sarcasm in my post came through. ;)

Some folks of a particular political persuasion don’t get sarcasm. 8-) 8-)

It did. And the one of mine that you quoted wasn't sarcastic. Most people leaving California that I've spoken to are quite the opposite. To a very "interesting" degree. I have no doubt Montanans will always hate Californians, but it might be for very different reasons than you think in the coming years.

Exactly. More people voted for Donald Trump in California than in any other state.

Okay, I'm respecting Fahque's wishes and not talking anymore politics, even sarcastically.

ha... Sorry, I am just sick and tired of people throwing around socialist, communist, fascist, we don't live in a democracy, blah, blah, blah… Politics is discussed everywhere we look nowadays and it's nice to be able to come to the football forum on egriz and not have to read the same political bullshit that is posted everywhere else on the Internet.

Carry-on :-)

Back to the NDSU conversation, but don't they also offer like $4000 COA that UM doesn't?
Whatever they are offering, it seems apparent that UM better start matching it if we hope to compete with them.

We are asking and expecting Bobby to beat North Dakota State when they are able to recruit more talented players with deeper recruiting funds. Sort of like asking Rocky to compete against the Griz. A review of our recruiting program is in order.

While NDSU is a dynasty, they have been beaten before and will be beaten again. EWU beat them in the championship game a decade ago, SDSU has had success against them recently.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask to simply be competitive with them. To acknowledge the flaws of roster and scheme and work towards changing and improving that.

It's far more satisfying to dive into the never-ending pissing matches here.

Yes ndsu offers FCOA as does UND, NDSU, SDSU, and USD. The Griz do offer some kind of stipend but I think it’s only like $1200 total. I think this NIL Collective will help as well if we can pay each player say $1000 or $2000

It's mostly going to the cheer squad and dance team, so far.
