advantage, as opposed the Flagstaffs predicted high of 77 this saturday ? I am always amazed at how many people think Flagstaff's weather is the same as southern AZ.....
I know Raider is trolling. But yeah, I'm always suprised how people view Flagstaff. Flagstaff gets way more snow in the winter than Bozeman and Missoula. And summer temperatures are similar to Western Montana

I'll buy that on Missoula, but Im not sure Flagstaff gets "way more" snow than Bozeman.

I did a little googling and came up with these results:
Average snowfall per year
Flagstaff, AZ - 103.6 inches
Bozeman, MT - 91 inches
Billings, MT - 55 inches
Missoula, MT - 37.9 inches
Cooke City - 200.7 inches

THE MORE YOU KNOW.

It's crazy that it can snow so much in the middle of the desert that covers all of Arizona.

Hmmm. Did you really just make that observation. Perhaps some geography classes.

I'm not the one claiming that it snows on all the cacti in the Flagstaff/Phoenix area!

Flagstaff also sits above 7,000 feet. If you go up to 7,000 feet in the Missoula or Bozeman areas I'm sure you'll find higher averages than that.

Do you guys even like football? or the Griz? Geezus, this board... bunch of soft, not funny, weather talkers.

time to head over to maroonblood. 90% of you, please stay here and talk about dumb, irrelevant shit.

I agree. Dumb thread!

On a related note, I see they are now forecasting a high of 80 on Saturday, so I am guessing they removed the frostbite warning. Whewww!

One thing to remember is that the forecast for saturday is blue sky's in Missoula. NAU plays indoors, they are not used to looking up into a blue sky (a 'big sky' really). They are used to the background from the roof of the Skydome, could make it hard for their receivers and returners to find the ball. Big advantage Griz.

I agree. Anyone who says it snows more anywhere outside of Montana than in Montana is off his rocker. I once had a professor try to convince the whole class that it was colder on Mars than in Butte. He now lives in a shack in Guam, not by choice. You only make that mistake one time.

That is exactly why I start stupid threads like this. Most Montanans, especially Missoulians, think they live in the winter weather epicenter of the universe. It's bizarre, and it's why you see all the melodramatic commentary about the weather and griz games.........again, why I start stupid treads like this. The funny part is that some actually answer seriously.

Montana folk and the weather. I will never get it. :?

Hey wasn't there some buzz a couple of months ago about some big announcement being made at homecoming by former players and staff? Thought I saw it in an article or here or someone twitted it or something. Was I imagining it?

you aren't imagining it, someone here posted that there was going to be a big announcement from the 1995 nc team. I'm curious to hear whats up. I'm actually surprised that its been quiet given all the posters that know all see all and tell all.

Ahhhhhhh here it is/was......

This is great news as seen in today's top 20 countdown listed on gogriz.com:

20. Montana has been celebrating Homecoming week for nearly a century, and this year's festivities, headlined by two major events, might top them all. Begin the buildup to the football game against Northern Arizona on Sept. 26 with a once-in-a-lifetime gathering, a who's who of former Griz basketball coaches coming together for an evening to benefit Travis DeCuire's program: Brandenburg, Montgomery, Morrill, Taylor, Holst, Tinkle, possibly Heathcote and Krystkowiak, all at a function MC'd by longtime Lady Griz coach Robin Selvig. And then there is the 20-year reunion of the 1995 national championship team and the triumphant return of coach Don Read to Washington-Grizzly Stadium. But it will be more than just a celebration of an anniversary. The members of that team will have a major announcement. Hint: They felt moved to give back to the program, department and school that gave them so much.

One little known fact about the shootout at the OK Corral, there was at least 2 feet of fresh snow in Tombstone that day. Wyatt survived without a scratch because he was able to dive behind the berm that the snowplow made. The inaccuracies in the movie Tombstone are crazy. Im sure CDA and Ursa can expand on this, the historians that they are!

You're exactly right, Hammer. There was heavy snow fall that day even by Arizona standards. Another historical inaccuracy is the bullet fired by Frank McLaury that grazed Doc Holliday's hip after striking his holster. Many think this was a gun holster but it was actually the famed dentist's iPhone 3 holster. It is well documented that Doc Holiday was an Apple products guy.

Back to serious business from all your joke posts.

I see now the forecast dropped from 79 to 77. Bundle up and be safe Griz fans.

I am seriously concerned that the weather might be "perfect", or "ideal" this weekend. This could have serious consequences for how the Griz play. This being a homecoming weekend, the crowd is never up to it's usual 'loudness", and there is a higher than normal percentage of people who will refuse to stand during the game, especially when the Griz are on offense.

Of course "homecomers" are also likely to spend more time out in the tailgates meeting and greeting. Combine that with the "perfect" weather, the frustration of "good" fans from "homecomers" not cheering loud enough, and there might not be anybody in the stadium for the 2nd 1/2 of the game. If we have already lost "cold" due the to the perfect weather, and now we lose "loud" due the the perfect weather, Griz will have a big challenge to be competitive in this game. Might be too much hill for a climber.

I always thought Holiday was a Blackberry guy, and they didn't want to pay for the rights to the name in the movie, so they changed it to Huckleberry?
