MBBALL The Seed for the BIG DANCE

Last week's coaching experts become this week's seeding experts. I think Griz lack of size will become a huge factor in the tourney.

14 seed, 13 seed, what difference does it make? In all probability 'The Good Guys' imports gonna get beat like a rented mule. Maybe, if the Griz were Montana products, I could develop an interest in Griz BB. Connor Dick is the only Montanan. Lady Griz got FOUR Montanans! Lightning could strike, Krystko proved that.
We are in the highest tier of competition, so this is what the best case scenario looks like. Food for thought for all the 'move up the the FBS' football crowd. Be careful what you wish for...

The Mountain West results – Colorado State winning – poses a problem for the bubble teams. And that matters for the Griz because a team with better numbers could get bumped and push the general block of at-large candidate a bit lower and, possibly, improve the UM seed.

According to the current rankings, the MWC had five teams that might be considered for an at-large. (A generous guess, probably.) However, the committee has never (or almost never) respected the conference that much. I actually think they will get just three: The champion (CSU), Boise State (which has decent rankings and made it to the championship game), and Utah State (which won a lot of games and was ranked for awhile). I don't think San Diego State has done enough ... and the NCAA will take advantage of their new rules and relegate New Mexico to the NIT.

I think New Mexico is a lock.

Well, I thought so too until they lost to BSU and didn't even make the final. The cynic in me thinks the NCAA will bump them to the NIT rather than "waste" a spot for the MWC. I may change my mind when I look at all the numbers (tomorrow).

Zero chance the regular season MWC champ is left out.
