The Mountain West results – Colorado State winning – poses a problem for the bubble teams. And that matters for the Griz because a team with better numbers could get bumped and push the general block of at-large candidate a bit lower and, possibly, improve the UM seed.
According to the current rankings, the MWC had five teams that might be considered for an at-large. (A generous guess, probably.) However, the committee has never (or almost never) respected the conference that much. I actually think they will get just three: The champion (CSU), Boise State (which has decent rankings and made it to the championship game), and Utah State (which won a lot of games and was ranked for awhile). I don't think San Diego State has done enough ... and the NCAA will take advantage of their new rules and relegate New Mexico to the NIT.
