The coaches should start the person they feel will give us the best shot to get ahead to win. However if we get way ahead by half 24 to zip, them a younger guy should get the go in the second half. Know if we are knitted up 14 to 14 at half and SSH has not been productive then again a younger guy should get a shot to play to win.
I personally would hate to see none of the young guys get play time this year. We go into next year with next to no game experience then.
I don't see our young guys getting many shots to play this year honestly and this may be the best game for it.
My two cents.

Coaches don't get paid to think about next year. They are going to do what it takes to make the team as strong as possible THIS year.
Hypothetical. Let's say UM has a solid year like everyone is expecting, and JJ herniates himself carrying the Great Divide Trophy off the field after the cat/griz game in November. If you're taking your team into the playoffs without your starting QB are you going to want your backup to have as many reps as possible, or are you going to want one guy who played half a game, and two other guys who each played maybe a quarter?

This is a more likely scenario....

QB1 has people carry trophies for him.
So they don't get paid to recruit for the FUTURE? Also , the argument that some have experience and some don't is basically a revolving door. Sure, in the scenario you laid out of course you want your most experienced and most talented QB2 at the controls going into the playoffs. Where the argument falls back on itself, however, is how are players with little to no experience supposed to gain experience if they're never allowed to play because of lack of experience? Both of the QBs we have on the team right now who actually have game experience will be gone after this year so where does that leave us for next year? Are we just going to go without a QB next year since we shouldn't put anyone on the field who lacks experience?wbtfg said:OrgonGriz said:I would like to see one of the younger guys get some good play time. He clearly doesn't understand that this game isn't about depth and using your best players but appeasing the fans for what they want to see in the years ahead.
