I just foolin' about. SSH will do just fine I'm sure. Do you guys know when kick off is?

3:30

It's actually 3:37.

Oh Jesus PR...why do you feel the need to split hairs over 7 minutes?

Do you have a problem with accuracy? Being accurate isn't spliting hairs.

7 minutes is enough time for another beer at the tailgate, for fast drinkers.

I would like to see one of the younger guys get some good play time. Does it mean it has to be have to be the starter of this game? No I don't think so really.

The coaches should start the person they feel will give us the best shot to get ahead to win. However if we get way ahead by half 24 to zip, them a younger guy should get the go in the second half. Know if we are knitted up 14 to 14 at half and SSH has not been productive then again a younger guy should get a shot to play to win.

I personally would hate to see none of the young guys get play time this year. We go into next year with next to no game experience then.

I don't see our young guys getting many shots to play this year honestly and this may be the best game for it.

My two cents.

Coaches don't get paid to think about next year. They are going to do what it takes to make the team as strong as possible THIS year.

Hypothetical. Let's say UM has a solid year like everyone is expecting, and JJ herniates himself carrying the Great Divide Trophy off the field after the cat/griz game in November. If you're taking your team into the playoffs without your starting QB are you going to want your backup to have as many reps as possible, or are you going to want one guy who played half a game, and two other guys who each played maybe a quarter?

This is a more likely scenario....

lmao

How dare Mick Delaney start the 2nd best QB on the team at this point. How dare he give the #1 backup vital time with the first string in a live game. He clearly doesn't understand that this game isn't about depth and using your best players but appeasing the fans for what they want to see in the years ahead.

This board can't get any more weird. He's second on the depth chart. The starter can't play. I think you usually go to the number 2 in the situation. No? I hope SSH has a great game and proves the haters wrong; but you just know then it will be "Oh sure, but it was against a D2 team."
Well, we know what he does against D1 teams.

You do have a point about the extra beer. Depending on what kind of beer it is, you could easily have 2.

Or 4-5

At what point in the Wyoming game did Jordan Johnson get the concussion? I was unaware that he was taken out of the game. Was it on the last (2) seconds throw? I didn't see anything on our end of the field that looked like that hard of a hit but it was pretty hard to see the other end.

He may have been hit by lightning or become disoriented during all of the commercial breaks and run headfirst into a pole.

I will never understand why Delany keeps putting Smithwick-hann in for JJ and not let some of the younger guys get experience. Smithwick-hann is probably the least talented quarterback I've ever seen at Montana.

I think we'll see all three backup QBs tomorrow. SSH is by far the most
experienced backup, and deserves to start, but why not take the opportunity
against a less-talented opponent to see all three? Probably even a good strategy
to use three QBs with very different styles. It's a non-conference game that the
Griz should win even w/o JJ.

I don't care who the QB is, if the offensive line keeps the strategy of when 5 guys blitz letting the one up the middle come through unblocked, we will be in trouble/

OR, you'll get another option at QB! Maybe this is the strategy. 8-)

The Coach Ron Ash strategy. Keep the best on the bench until needed. I like it. I'm fairly certain it was noted in his book, Playing .500 Ball.

Unfortunately, Delaney also seems to use this strategy. Especially in the kicking game.

Amusing. "Delaney" and "strategy" used in the same sentence. This game will be a white knuckle ride until the "talented" Griz, per the Missoulian, step up and show it. This game will be a litmus test for the rest of the season. Waiting for game time is giving me an ulcer.

As opposed to Coach Dick Delaney's book, Kick Off Both Halves For Success or possibly from his bestseller The Snot Of A Champion. :thumb:

Will it really? Last time we played these guys we squeezed out a win with a last second FG.

Then we went to the national championship.

It's a long season. One game isn't going to be a bellwether.

Yeah, because we've done that every game he's coached.

Really. Selah! :shocker:  Overstated a bit, perhaps. If they get it together for this game, it bodes well.
