The dreaded Tap on the Back

We've all heard the story of the wild NEZ fan getting a tap on the back and being told to sit down by the geriatric fan behind.

Well....on Saturday I stood up at halftime to stretch and watch the band. I got a rather fierce tap on the back and the geriatric fan behind me said "would you sit down, nobody can see". To say the least I was surprised and I did note that nobody seemed to consist of the geriatric gentleman and his wife, but I did step aside so as to not interfere with their enjoyment of the half time show.

That's gotta be a first.

If you were sitting in the south endzone wearing a green hat then I was sitting right next to you (on your left) I just shook my head thinking "really? its halftime" If that wasn't you then the exact same thing happen.

I was in the southwest corner, section 111, in a maroon hat. There must have been some sort of virus going around.

Don't fuck with me.

I was in section 114 and you described it perfectly.
I think you were in the section where the players walked down for the entrance. I thought that looked pretty cool.
I try to make one game a year (driving 8 hrs from Sidney is a lot) and was glad I picked the Cal Poly game. Kinda wish I had pick the EWU game this week, but I will be screaming at the tv trying to help out

I stand up 50 times a game in the NW corner, and I've never been told to sit. Maybe everyone has just resigned themselves to accepting it 8-)

The players walked right down the aisle next to us. It was pretty cool, it took just a few moments to figure out exactly what was happening.

That's my section. We have a fair amount of ass hats.

Same here, BL.

I've been sitting in 233B since that area opened, and NOT ONCE, in all the years has anyone told/ask me to sit...EVER!

We're a loud, and rowdy group that "...will not be pawed at."!

"MOVE THE CHAINS...!!!"

Wait just a cotton pickin' minute....you mean there are times where you SIT?

Tap on the back?

Reminds me of standing at a urinal while attending an EWU game a few years back. They are like that over there. If you dont believe me check out all the homo inuendo from the EWU fans in any thread on our message board.

Those guys love the backdoor and parking in the rear.

I had to run to the facilities for a wicked 1 during halftime of the 2004 game in Cheney. So, I'm there doing my thing when this dude comes up behind me and shakes my shoulders back and forth yelling "Fire hose! Fire hose!" I turned around, still mid-stream, mind you, to see and EWU fan standing there. Strange comedy.

I am the one who taps.

Thank you for not stepping into a world of pain by saying something silly. Not everybody wants to pay 30 bucks to stand for four hours.
You should go back to church bitch and watch it from there.

The only way that story isnt weird, is if you told me you were NOT at an EWU game.

Valid point. Put it this way: it was weird to me, but all the red-clad folk just seemed to think it was a two-putt par.

Make them a deal - I'll sit down when the offense is on the field if you'll stand up when defense is on the field.

Our group has had really good success with these pinned to our backs...

That is a good permit, I could have used one a while back. My season tix are in the nose bleeds of NEZ so I usually don't have a problem when I am standing because you pretty much have to to be able to see. However there are times when it seems like it bothers people because I like to stand during the whole time the Griz defense is on the field. I noticed a lot of people like to sit and be seen more and more at Griz games these days.

A few years back a buddy who sits in like row 6 of NEZ where the Boom crew, sits, or used to gave me his tix. I had an altercation with some old farts who kept pulling on my nephews shirt and tried to yank him down. I told that senior to keep his hands off of kids he did not know. This led to some d-bag in front of us getting lippy so I told him to STFU and mind his own business. Looking back I wish I would have offered to switch seats with them so they could sit and we could stand but oh well. I heard that entire area has turned into a senior citizens convention, not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you want to sit on your ass and watch the Griz do it from the comforts of your sofa if you really don't want to be bothered by someone blocking your view because IMO part of what makes WA-Griz, especially the NEZ, the special environment it is, is how loud it is and how the crowd tends to stand when the D is doing its thing.

Don't ask me to sit when I'm standing, :butt: ask me to stand when I'm sitting.
But then again, you will never have to ask me to stand. :thumb:
