JD Quinn was there? That had to have been a HELL of a party
JD is still here. Had dinner with him last night. Levi Horn came through briefly; it was his birthday.
Ahh yes great teams back then, I still will say Cole B was the best QB we had since the man the myth the legend Dave D was leading the charge. We had a hell of a line in front of Cole back on those teams with Russ, JD, Horn, etc.
Cole and Russum were at dinner too. JD said that Levi might have been the nastiest of the group. It was interesting listening to them talk about the game in Chatty, when Russum had a bad ankle and not planning to play, and Dyk got hurt and went out. Eventually, JD moved himself from center to guard, and started helping contain the rush. On about the first play he was at guard, the d-tackle started to stunt outside of JD, so that the end Salisbury (?) could loop in. JD did what he had been taught at OK, which was to push the d-tackle out towards Russum at tackle, and then pick up the d-end looping in. JD pushed the guy right to Russum, so he didn't have to move as much on his bad ankle. Russum picked up the d-end That's how they handled it the rest of the game. My wife asked if all players, including me, remember their plays like that. JD said if he played 100 in a game, he would remember all 100 of them. They all agreed that they would have won had Bergquist not gotten the bad thigh bruise in the first half.
