TG trying to poach our recruits

Poaching is just fine unless you get caught. However one must live with the "poached" ...and himself!

My guess is coach Stitt will get his guys. One Griz coach mentioned Griz recruiting is going "way over the top at this point" ...I can't wait!

I found this article about Chris Peterson's poaching Boise St recruits last year. At the time of the article, he had taken 4 of them, and had just won another one over Boise St. Look at what this author said (no big deal) and what the poll said (no big deal). Again, I don't know the ethics. I've seen what some of you have said, but would rather have more definitive information.

yep, this happens all of the time. love the mentality of the thread however. if a coach leaves a school and tries to get kids he recruited to follow him he's classless without ethics. but if a coach comes to a new school, and tries to get kids who committed to other schools already (not the school he was at) then that is fair game. :?

here's what i know. verbals mean very little to coaches. if there is a player that they want and they fill a need, that coach will continue to try to land the kid until he signs on the dotted line.

and to go another step farther, if and when kane moves on he'll likely pursue kids he was recruiting, whether they committed to msu or another school or not. and i'll have no problem with it whatsoever.

but it's cat griz stuff. this is egriz. so i'd expect nothing less. i'll remain unimpressed unless he actually gets one of your verbals to join him here. ;)

Actually I think it is fair game to go after ones, HE didn't have serious contact with while representing, being paid, by the other school.

Peterson went after the verbals he'd gotten when he was at Boise, including the Bozeman kid.

He was also not truthful with the Baylor staff...

The references to what Peterson did at UW and other coaches in terms of so-called poaching are not close to the situation involving TG. What we are talking about is a high level coach moving to the rival team and then using his knowledge acquired from his employment with UM to benefit the rival. And this is not just a rival - this is the delusional boobcats. Not a lot different from Alabama and Auburn. And TG thinks he may be considered for the head coaching job at UM in the future? But I doubt that TG will persuade any recruits to change their minds. One positive is that it helps to fuel the rivalry. I'm already looking forward to being at Wa-Griz in November to watch the next butt kicking, and as others have said, I hope that Stit does not call off the dogs..

Really? People are surprised by this?? I'd be shocked if he hadn't been trying to poach some commitments.

This happens all the time. I don't really see it as unethical either. Bottom line it gives the kid more options to further his education and football career. That should be considered a good thing. I guess it isn't if your a biased fan. We want the kids that want to be here. If a player commits because of a coach or a scheme that isn't there any longer, he should probably switch his commitment to a place that fits.

Meh...if a kid really makes that move than I would question a number of things about his thinking and it would probably be better for us down the road anyway.

If they're not 100% in I don't care if they end up out.

Let him try to poach. More power to him if he can sell a Griz verbal to come to Bozeman. I guess it's possible. People actually bought the Shake Weight.

In response, I would not consider it unethical to run a video of a Gregorak "FTC" speech on GrizVision as the Cats come on the field next November.

Now that would be worth the price of admission!

Holy shit that's funny.

I wish I could see an issue here, but I really can't. If a recruit can be fooled to go to MSU over UM, any BSC WR should have no problem burning him on a double move to the house.

Why not try? I mean, Stitt released some big names. He's essentially said if you don't perform you're not welcome. TG could have used that as ammunition to come over. Does Stitt have the patience to grow individual players into a great team, or is he going to try the Jacksonville State transfer heavy route? Only time will tell but there is a small perception problem IMO.

Worked out pretty good for coach Bohl, who while rebuilding his Bizon team had from 6 to 15 transfers on his rosters. But I agree, only time will tell.

I heard from the grapevine, allegedly from a current assistant coach, that one of the reasons Traitorak was not welcomed back was because he "liked to play favorites." Apparently, if you were not a rah-rah guy like him, you did not get as much playtime.

I'm butthurt that we have so f'n many stupid fans and a mod (the one that probably does think Walter Payton is alive) that's f'n dumber than any if them. I hope very few fans from other teams read this thread. Hopefully they see that quite a few of us aren't as f'n stupid as the rest.

Not sure that is the real reason that you are butthurt.....but I agree....and it goes "deeper" than just this post.....see what I did there......

I heard part of the problem was Stitt's Philosophy on Offense. Didn't want his defense to defend 75% of the game any more.

I think he's building to contend "now" every year while he develops his recruits. That means drop downs, JC transfers and better and better freshmen to compete.
