Only 5 days, here, and you want to float the rivers? Forget Yellowstone & Glacier Parks, not that they're not worth the trip, but you only have 5 days. I guess if you're young & energetic enough, taking in all the places suggested could be done. If your son is joining the Griz, you'll have more time, later, to explore Missoula & Western MT.
For wet suits for floating, try https://www.facebook.com/GullDiveCenter/. Oh, and avoid The Missoula Club for its putative hamburger "excellence," which is only a patty and an onion on a toasted bun. You have to be about 3 sheets to the wind to enjoy it.
The Shack for breakfast is well recommended. The Depot is great for dinners, altho a bit pricey. Double Front for fried chicken is a good experience. For excellent pizzas, Howard's Pizza on South Ave., altho small and modest, has the best pizza around, IMO. For breakfasts, you might also try Paul's Pancake Parlor in the Tremper's Shopping Center on S. Brooks. It's a big fan of the Griz.
I just suggest exploring the Missoula area & doing the floating in the 5 brief days you have. There will be later times to expand out. This time of year, you can't beat Western MT, mid-May to mid-Sept. Outside of those dates, all bets are off.
