I have no idea about Bob MacKenzie's view on sports in Montana. But, when I worked for them, MacKenzie River was primarily owned by a guy that moved to Bozeman from the East (Boston, I think). Story goes that he ordered a Santa Fe Chicken sandwich while on vacation, liked it so much that he bought the company. While he owned it, some menu items had different names depending on where they were in the state. For example, the nachoish pizza was named the Griz in Missoula and named the Bobcat in Bozeman. Today, a franchising comapany based out of Kalispell owns the brand. The franchise owners for both stores in Missoula, the store in Polson, and I believe the store in Fargo are die hard Griz fans. Indeed, one of them was a cheerleader for the Griz and the other was the defensive line coach under Joe Glen.
