Clause - yes indeed. But you're missing the point. You build programs and franchises. Manning will be paid for the first year regardless. There's a team clause written, but if Manning is hurt the Bronco's are once again without. That means they invested the time and money hoping it pays off.
What I'm saying is Manning is up in years and suffered a bad injury.

i'd share your line of thinking if even ONE doctor suggested he's an injury risk. one doctor said that he definitely could get hurt again this year, but the chances that he hurts his knee, ankle or shoulder are almost the same that he re-injures his neck.

You can take this to the bank. No team, not the Jets, not any team will win a conference championship, much less a super bowl with Tebow as the starting quarterback. Manning has to pass a physical next year before he is eligible to get paid for years 2 and 3, and then he has to take a physical before years 4 and 5. Having Manning strengthens your immediate franchise and allows you to groom a quarterback for the future. That is franchise building 101. Tebow is not the answer. He is a novelty and is good for publicity. Every team would trade a few hundred thousand casual housewife fans for a super bowl caliber quarterback.

All due respect, but not sure I follow your logic/reason. Payton Manning is 35 years old. He's had 3 neck surgeries in the last 2 years. The Colts took him in the 1998 or 1999 draft and he WAS their franchise QB, but they know he's not their franchise QB NOW. They are looking for their next franchise QB (Luck) and are planning for their future. Denver however, has passed up their possible franchise QB for having an aging 35 year old with a neck injury.
Now, do I believe that Tim Tebow is your typical NFL QB and he's the person to take you to the big game.. maybe, maybe not. I do know that he's young, healthy and to this point has proven all his critic wrong. He also draws a lot of fans (A LOT)...much more than a few thousand women.
Bottom-line, we'll see. I'll put my money on a young healthy horse then a horse with a bum leg..no worse, bum neck.
My opinion (which doesn't matter anyway), Manning was ONCE the player you're talking about. Denver was better off grooming a young gun for a future.

We can agree to disagree. I am a die hard Bronco fan. I lived through 4 crushing super bowl defeats. I remember rooting for them for as long as I can remember. Haven Moses. Ricky Upchurch, Randy Gradishar, Tom Jackson. I have had my hopes crushed and lifted by this team.
I agree Denver was better off grooming a young gun for the future. I just don't believe Tim Tebow is that young gun. In fact I believe that the Broncos got 2 steals this week. One with the signing of Manning with only the first year guaranteed so far. The other is getting a 4th and 6th round draft pick from the Jets for Tebow and a 7th round pick. Draft a quarterback this year and groom him under Manning. We have differing opinions on it. I can respect yours, even though it is wrong.

But, let's say coach Pflu announced today that a record setting high profile FBS QB is transfering to the University of Montana to play his Sr. Year. Let's also say that he's getting a full ride and that he didn't play last year because he's had 3 neck surgeries in the last 2 years.

I'm not really sure why everyone is so down on Manning...he was owed 28 million by a week ago without really being cleared to play easy choice bye...now he is cleared and he got about 20 million guaranteed. Manning gives the Broncos who I passionately hate a real chance to win not just go on a winning streak against shitty teams. I'm relatively certain that Manning would have more yards td's and completions in 4 weeks than tebow would in a whole season. It seems like there are a lot of Donkey fans on here pissed that they went and got Manning, the rules in the NFL say he will get to be dominant for another 5 years easily. If you look at the numbers, there is no way in hell you can say tebow gives you a better chance to win. for the record I AM NOT SAYING TEBOW IS A BAD PERSON JUST A BAD QUARTERBACK

I found out how classless the Bronco organization is. The large broncos media center has tons of pictures of the highlights of the past year. When Manning had his press conference in the media center, the Donkeys had taken all pictures with Tebow in them, off the wall. It was a cleansing. Although Everyone knows Tebow was never going to take them to the promised land there was no reason to treat him with such a lack of class. I like Manning and was glad he came here but I cannot support such low life team (not that they care about a 30 year fan). I understand the Broncos taking Manning over Tebowbut Tebow was the heart and soul of the team this past year. Management ignored his contribution decided to treat him like trash. He gave 110 percent every play and deserved respect. They treated Bill Romanowski and many other less worthy players with much more respect when they left. I guess they respect drunks, drug users and women beaters over a true role model. Although he may not be a great player, he is a great youg man who will still be successful in life. Go Tim. I will cheer for his team over the Broncos.
