Statistical Comparison: UM vs MSU

Each of those safeties was during a punt situation so the Cats would have been getting the ball anyway.
Here's an actuals to estimates for starting field position using Weber's net punt average for the season which is 38yds thus far.

First Safety - Ball on WSU 19 + 38yds, Cats start on their own 43 yard line (actual start after safety kickoff MSU 35) net lost 8 yards
Second Safety - Ball on WSU 33 + 38yds, Cats start on their own 29 yard line (actual start after safety kickoff MSU 41) net gain 12 yards
Third Safety - Ball on WSU 30 + 38yds, Cats start on their own 32 yard line (actual start after safety kickoff MSU 35) net gain 3 yards
Fourth Safety - Ball on WSU 34 + 38yds, Cats start on their own 28 yard line (actual start after safety kickoff MSU 38) net gain 10 yards

I wouldn't call this a game changing significance in field position for the game. I would call each of them significant swings in momentum though.
The 2 points you got on each one seemed pretty significant, too

I honestly don't see how they have trouble understanding that "forcing four punts and getting the ball each time" is not the same as "forcing four punts and getting eight points and the ball each time" are not the same thing.

I hope all of you ignorant POS's have to eat your words after this weekend

Back at you. I mean I've always known your fanbase in general is super arrogant, cocky, and overconfident and usually have an inflated idea of how good the griz are, but this year seems worse than most. I cannot believe the number of griz fans I'm encountering that are convinced the griz are going to blow the Cats out of the water Saturday. Oddsmakers put the griz as slight underdogs, and I know thousands of overconfident griz fans are betting heavy on griz to win. All that said, I guess it's possible the Cats get blown out but I'm not thinking that happens. We'll see.

The only one saying we are overconfident are arrogant cat fans like yourself. Of course every Griz fan is going to root for the Griz just like every cat fan is going to root for the cats, just because people are rooting for their team doesn't make them arrogant. What makes you arrogant is coming over to your arrival's board and calling people arrogant, chanting ESGGCG at every game/event/family gathering that has nothing to do with the Griz, and thumping your chest going around putting down everything Griz because you've been to 1 NC game in the past 37 years. Smack talk is great and I am all for it but you all have gone completely overboard for this game, especially catslickback. Cat fans like that are the reason I will never root for the cats again, even if they are the only Montana team left because I damn sure used to

Well, if you ignore the points completely and focus on his narrowly defined and dubious assumptions regarding hypothetical field position, you have to admit he has something vaguely resembling a point. :geek:

Very good- Agreed! See ya Saturday. Go Cats!

I very much look to logging on Sunday and seeing your post! :thumb:

Yeah, from either side this probably seems like blasphemy though, I'll be traveling on Saturday all day to be with family out-of-state. Have CGD and the game on record-- will have a no contact rule with everyone until I watch both

This.

Not sure if this is a statistic or just data (unmanipulated). UM is located in Missoula County, Bozeman is bleak.

Run the ball, stop the run, don’t turn it over.

Umm, the Bobcats have not proven anything either. Going to be a good game, but sounds like the Cats have a couple of injuries on D. An already suspect Defense. Cats are lucky this one is at home. Don’t think they get the W for a couple of different reasons, but who cares what you or I think. Come Saturday the best team will win. I am confident that is the Griz and I didn’t say that last year!! Griz D equivalent and probably better than last year. Griz O is better in my opinion. Cats offense is equivalent. Cats D is a big step backwards.

You think the Cats offense is the same as last year production wise? Yikes…. For your sake please do a little research before you bet on the game! You’re right though it doesn’t matter. We’re all stuck in our ways and that makes it fun. None of us have any factor on the game. You’re right as well, MSU has been banged up all year. Good teams win without key players. Been doing it all season. Gris fell short of doing that. So we will see.

The Cats did handle UCD, who just handled Idaho. Idaho gave you guys some fits from what I’ve heard. We also beat WSU.

Lets play this game:
cats gifted 8 points plus easy field position vs. Weber on 4 of the worst punt snaps ever witnessed by man.
cats should have lost against EWU if it weren't for a officiating miscue at the end of the game. By the way, UM killed them.
cats barely survive against a mediocre/poor NAU team.

The reality is the cats could very easily have 3 more losses. I like the way the Griz are playing right now and still think they are capable of wining the championship. When Lucas is running RPOs the offensive is very difficult to stop. Stubborn coaching finally moved on from the backup quarterback so the Griz have a chance even if Lucas is hurt. FTC!

Exactly! The Cats find ways to win, the griz find ways to lose.

And apparently that "way" is to pay off the refs and the opposing long snapper.

Ok let’s keep it going. You should have and did lose to Sac. You should have and did lose to WSU and Idaho. We had almost as many points at half as it took you the whole game against CP. We beat a solid UCD team handily, who would probably whoop your tail too if you had to play them, luckily UM misses that match up. If you wanna play the Gimmies, we will take at least 7 pts back for blatant blocks in the back against WSU, we still win. When the woulda coulda shoulda’s line up, we will look better 😂. Gris we’re within a score of ISU if you wanna play that game too. No? FTG
