I just cannot agree that the three QB’s we have aren’t as good on the ground as McDowell. Pure conjecture given the time they have had in the offense and for two of them, their youth. Their arms are likely better and their O lines will be as well. The running backs are incredible and we’re pretty good last year! Another year under the RB’s belts cannot hurt. The QB’s may not have to scramble as much as McDowell did. The offense is going to hum. It would early and often. The handwringing by some on the board is unwarranted.
I'm sorry, but if you're going to try to argue that Ah Yat or Huot are as good on the ground as Clif, I'm going to call shenanigans. We can be proud and supportive of our guys without just being ridiculous. Fife seems to have the best running ability of the 3, and from what I've seen and heard, it's nowhere near as powerful or effective as Clif was. That doesn't mean Fife is a bad QB or will be bad for us.

The things that Clif brought to the table made up for the deficiencies in the rest of the offense, especially in the run game, on 3rd downs, and especially when plays didn't go according to plan. If one of our guys can do that, I think we'll be okay, but I think the rest of the offense has to get a lot better in order for me to feel like we can get back to Frisco. It was objectively not as good when Clif was not under center last year. The RB-based run game with Vidlak was much worse. I hope the OL is better, but I don't know how you can confidently say they will be replacing 2 all-conference guys.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and they are even better this year. Would love to see it. I am just not as optimistic it will happen right away.

The Griz QBs are in a better positon than they were last year, with Ah Yat in year two with the same OC, a frankly better OC. Every kid on offense who was here last year should be way ahead of where they were in August 2023.

Cliff's was a good sized athlete. We don't have that size, but everything else at QB should be further along.

Clif is 6’4” and 224. Huot is 6’4” and 210. He’s not a small athlete either.

The wild thing is, I have no clue who the Bubbies have at QB outside of Tommie Touchdowns. Absolutely no clue. You could tell me QB2 was named Burt Reynolds, and I'd have to believe you. I guess it just doesn't interest me. No idea who your QB coach is, or what he's saying about your QBs. He or she could say they are the best or the worst in the world, and I'd be none the wiser.
This reminds me of a funny comment from my neighbor recently.
Remember when moany was threatening that we will soon get to know the name of the bubs’ QB2 and rue the day he takes over? Moany was being his typical dumb self and claiming their QB2 could throw better than Tommie (which I could actually believe) and would make their offense better (which is crazy). I think moany said QB2’s name was Jordan, maybe Michael Jordan.
Anyway, I asked my neighbor about Jordan and he said Jordan isn’t even QB2 anymore and got bumped down and now there is a new QB2. I think my neighbor said the new QB2’s name is Spalding or something like that

He needs to get his foot off the boat.

Fair enough. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. We will have to agree to disagree. Mainly, I like that you are calling shenanigans. Made your post quite frankly and I am thoroughly entertained by that. A word I have not heard in some time.

Isn't Shenanigans the name of the restaurant Ryan Reynolds used to wait tables at before becoming the Green Lantern? Haha.

Fife is more "Sneed-like", IMHO...built a bit like him too.

Pretty tough to guess that because the OC may has different reasons who he would choose. I would say if it was a quality FBS team that we should be playing then it would be Fife.

Career college stats show he has 64 carries for 88 yards, 1.3 yards per carry. What am I missing? (Besides a brain, or a life... I'll save all the snarkers\smart assess the trouble of posting that).

It is my understanding that the two new FBS transfers are competing for the same starting spot (LT?). At first glance that would tell me the other 4 spots are going to guys previously on the roster who have obviously shown they can play. Time will tell

Ah Yat, he has "it" and intangibles separate great QBs from the same old generic shit at QB Big Game Bob throws out year after year.

So I am sure BGB will pick anyone else but AhYat

Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what your point is with the post, unless you're calling out that he had one bad game versus the griz in three years? Also don't think he's ever thrown 6 picks in one year. Stat line shows he's thrown six picks in his entire career. But back to your QB dilemma, IMO Fife probably isn't your guy. Those career stats are absolutely terrible. I think Ah Yat might give you the best chance to win. Last year McDowell ended up being the ONLY QB on the roster that gets you to Frisco. Damn, he had a knack for getting exactly what yards you needed, exactly when you needed them... and the team obviously rallied around him. He made several key plays in your playoff run that were amazing. You'll need a QB that has that same knack for making key plays at critical times again, if you want to make it back to Frisco.
Yes, Fife has 6 bad throws that season. Mellott had more bad throws in 1 game.

Fife completed 70% of his passes that season.
