PRECISELY what I was thinking as well, GJ. I believe the quote was, "We're going to war". Well, it was more like a small skirmish because they lost to like 8th seeded ISU in the first round.
I have a differing recollection... There is zero resemblance to the 80's teams, apples to oranges, but keep trying to divert from reality. In the eighties Montgomery and the Griz were on a fairly level playing field with the other 7 members, the conference was loaded with talent, more like the Mountain West on a national stage.
Top to bottom those conference games were wars, the arena's were full, everyone was good in comparison to today. Even ISU and NAU had their moments back then, and they were the weakest. IDAHO, BSU, UNR, UM, WEBER and MSU were all solid, IDAHO in 81 was ranked sixth in the country, and i was there to witness Montgomery's lowly Griz program knock them off.
Now, we are superior in facilities and support(which is wavering). Our conference is loaded with kenpom 200-300 plus ranked teams, and we are middle of the pack! If Montgomery is so bored to read these posts, he would have a fun laugh from his mansion in Cali, sipping his wine and stacking his cash.
Those 8 years you guys wish to forget were the Golden years of the BSC, and some of the best atmospheres ever in Dahlberg! You guys keep guzzling the Kool-Aid and coming up with excuses and diversions form our current reality, however, I expect way more!
