the gus video of the TD shows that it was #2 who seemed to be burned by #4 on that touchdown

Secondly, heard Semore continued the tradition that TY always did, which was to steal signals from the O, and in particular on run plays, the defense knew what was coming almost every time.
So, light years ahead of last year? What's that? Slightly below average? This OL will have to prove itself come game time. Talk is talk.....

Just like NDSU in the playoffs.
Not quite the same where an opposing team coach can watch game films, figure out the signals, and realize in a key playoff game that the newby coach is using the same offensive signals he has used all season. And that it is a welcome surprise to see that. Because, in his previous experiences, such as class acts as against Chadron State, such powerhouses such as Chadron State only figured that out 9 out of 15 times.gotgame75 said:Lol, did you not see they part where it's mentioned that its tradition and that TY did the same thing? The DC can steal the signals because he practices against them every damn day, not because there's some sort of systemic problem with the play calls.grizturd said:Well if Semore can steal the signals from the O, I would think everyone else could too.

Two things.
Even if Semore steals the O's signals, how does that translate into the defense knowing what is coming? Does Semore signal in the defensive call, and then signal in what the offense is running? Why does the defense have signals set up in advance to receive a signal of the offensive play? Yes, I understand that Semore can make a better defensive call based on an offensive signal, but I don't get how the defense would know what the play is.
Why would a DC in a scrimmage be doing this, other than very occasionally? Why/how would that help make the team better? Just doesn't seem like what a DC would do, except perhaps on rare occasion.
I would assume Hart and Villanueva should see a lot of time anyway. Both highly regarded recruits at 6'5" and 320+. Not sure if they're gonna keep them at that weight or slim em down to about 3-310 but I would expect them to challange Theibes and Kelly/Todd for playing time. I would think Deitrich, Weyer, and Reese have their positions locked down. That is unless they get lazy and sloppy which I wouldn't see our O line coach allowing.havgrizfan said:Was told a couple of good tidbits tonight. Well...if the talk is coming from the coaches, that should count for something. Very seldom would coaches make that claim unless there was evident improvement. Regardless of how much the OL struggled last year, it is a positive that they are improved and it is a good thing to hear.

Neither of whom is anywhere to close to Kidder. But, fingers crossed. :thumb:
Could be the biggest pick-up of the recruiting season. A total need....

Linebacker position is young, deep, and talented.

Not sure about that. But I hope he steps up in a big way.

All indications are that Semore will be good, probably very good, and maybe even terrific. Many good signs with Stitt too, but I suppose the proof will be in the pudding. I think he will be successful, even with a few ongoing hiccups here and there. I am encouraged by what is coming out of the coaching staff this winter/spring, in terms of making some improvements and changes and learning from some things that perhaps they didn't quite get right last year.
