I was in Missoula yesterday and there is none on the ground. Decent March weather in the mid to high 30s. Quite the difference when I came back up to Havre.

Havre, has it got above freezing yet.

Nope. We were 6 below this morning, and it didn't get above 15 today. The sun has been shining which is slowly starting to melt the roads and roofs. But like George F, my backyard will also probably have quite a bit of snow through a good chunk of April too.

This is my first winter in Havre. I am from Western Montana so this has been another beast. People told me it would be cold here but never imagined it being this constant and this much snow. My boss keeps telling me this is the worst winter in ages but still it is my first impression. At this rate, I don't think Spring will come until late May or June.

You'll know when the sparrows.... I mean mosquitoes come out.......

Call me when the gophers come out.

I took some trash to the dump at Fresno on a sunny day last week and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a gopher scurry across the snow packed road...they're probably getting spring fever too.

There were a bunch running around on top of the snow yesterday out by the airport. It looked so weird. Probably a good day to be a hawk

I despise heat, and I don't like desert much better. I find anything over 80 degrees unbearable. I could never live in Arizona.

I spent the better part of 15 years stationed in the south Pacific, temp hardly ever below 85 above. Then Uncle sent me to the Arctic Circle for One year, boy was that a wake up! Then I got to re-warm in central California for a couple years before coming to Great Falls. I believe I like heat a lot more than cold. Especially the older I get. The damn wind in Great Falls is horrific! Just a few more years and I can go south for the winters...

Air Force, eh? I have a good friend doing your same whirlwind right now. He's been in Great Falls, somewhere in NoDak, Santa Maria, Guam, and now Fort Collins. Going back to Guam in a month. Great guy. Also, thanks for your service, if I haven't told you lately.

Guam is one of the best places ever...biggest surprise I had travelling.
My mom lived there for two years as a kid when her dad was in the AF. Back when it was just two bases and a lot of jungle in between.

Sorry, but I would take Missoula over Phoenix 100 times out of 100.
My daughter went to grad school in the Phoenix area; there for 2 1/2 years. The day she left, she posted a photo of the rearview mirror in her car, and said, "There's Phoenix in my rearview mirror. I hope I never see it again in my life" -- and she headed north.

5.5 million people would disagree with you. PERFECT weather 9 months out of the year. The other three I'd live in Bigfork.

Pretty tough to beat that heat in Arizona...sometimes it may be a little warm in summer but a good AC can take care of that easier than a heater can warm you in Montana...

I hated Fort Benning and Fort Stewart when I was on active duty. Returned to Montana for a few years after I left active duty but returned to Georgia. Parts of the state can be unbearably hot for two or three months but I much prefer that 75 to 85 degree temp range for about half the year. Plus there's so much more to see and do, especially if you're a football junkie.

The BBQ trumps the mosquitoes, though.

Guess it's a good thing we aren't all alike- or we'd all be crowded into one tiny spot. A few years ago, we spent six weeks in January and February with our trailer in New Mexico and Arizona. We would have come home sooner if we hadn't been visiting our daughter. Just NOT our corner of the world.
Spent 4 years in Tempe in grad. school and would kill to be there right now.

Damn mosquitoes on the Arctic circle came out in force for about 3-weeks. Wore a face net so we could breathe at work and play. Then the mosquitoes went away and for a week we had no bugs, then the damn Nats came. You could take them by the handful off your arms and squish them. Mosquito repellent and nets didn't stop them. They were 100 times worse then the mosquitoes.

Spent 20+ years in Gilbert/Scottsdale/Cave Creek and miss it every. single. day. This San Antonio weather that changes by the fucking HOUR is for the birds.

Worked with DEA out of McAllen and Laughlin. Head down to McAllen and see a whole new Texas. The Rio Grande Valley is amazing. They grow everything there except lettuce...Fresh fruit everywhere... Never snows down there.

First, I love the Phoenix area. Lived there for a couple of years in the early '90s. Not so much fun in the summer, but there are plenty of pools to jump into.

Secondly, bear with me on my ignorance here - I'm getting reacquainted with the eGriz community. Am I correct in my assessment that most posters enjoy a derailed or non-football thread but a couple of them pull the "mods, move this" card if they are not fond of the topic and/or poster? Just trying to get a handle the basic rules of etiquette.

Mods, don't move this. We're learning. Cold and loud.

I know you all hate the social climate, but the actual climate in coastal Southern California is tops on the planet if you ask me. I sometimes go months without AC or heat. I swear. It's been kind of cold lately, but it's honestly between 65 and 75 around the clock for much of the year. My in-laws live inland, Riverside County, and that might as well be another planet.

I love me the San Diego! My wife has family in Carlsbad, Anaheim Hills, and her cousin's house was one of 3 that made it in their neighborhood in Ventura. Been there a lot to see them. Other than the people, the coast is fantastic!

Depends on the subject and if it's football season or not. And, if you didn't know that old guys talk about the weather incessantly, you have a lot to learn about life.

Havre, like many towns in Central Montana have blasted every winter record on the books for snow fall, and cold. It sucks. My back yard is protected by a 10-foot privacy fence, and a ton of tree shade. I have easily four feet on the ground, and some drifts much higher than that. My back yard won't fully melt out until late April, and that's IF the weather gets better than what's predicted for this spring. Lived here all my life, seen some bad winters. This one has been right up there. Though, not what like they've gone through in Browning.
Speaking of Browning, just saw this picture on the web from two days ago.....

Did you know that weather is the #1 subject to bring up in the awkward moments of conversing with someone you don’t know and don’t know what to say.
