In 1962 I walked up those stairs to the alley and lo and behold Drinvills (sp) Missoula Police car was parked and running. Next thing I remember, I was in it and driving. Eventually parked it in front of the station, got out and walked away. To the Stocks in fact.62 As Kem says, good times. Happen today I would probably still be in the jug.

i don't know where the station was in 1962? bill probably only remembers the more important facts.

Was the old police station. I believe Rhinos occupies the building now, but then again, who really knows? Merry Christmas to the Egrizers.

I now where it was, and Tom Monaghan had to come bail me out. Careless Driving. Racing Dickie Johnson; on college BLDV.

Anyone remember Brandy’s in the old, now really old Missoula hotel. I bartended their in the late 60’s early 70’s. It didn’t last more than a couple of years. The hotel was owned by the Dillinghams from Hawaii. If I remember they were a big construction company. The owner sent his son over to run the hotel/bar but he was more interested in doing coke than running a bar. There was a folk group by the name of Devin (Greg) McDonald (Ron) and I (Rob Quist). It was the time when MASH the tv show came out. The most requested song from MASH was “Suicide is Painless”. Actually I think that was from “Catch 22” a great anti-war movie. Anyway one of our best customers was Tofolo Uparasa (sorry bout the spelling) He could put Mai Tais away like I’d never seen. Those were great times and BRANDY’S was a hot spot.

I started racing Dickie Johnson in 1988, and we're still going at it to this day. It’s no Cat-Griz, but it’s a pretty good rivalry. Win some, lose some.

I remember protesting the Eureka city council with Dickie Johnson in 1994. Nothing has changed. Still the short sighted morons they are now 🙄

Are those Studebaker patrol cars? Only in Missoula.

The Flamingo Lounge in the Park Hotel was there when all else failed. Live blues and jazz when you hit it right.

There used to be a place out on Reserve way back that had a kind of Australian theme. They served steaks and Australian beer in huge cans. They also had this thing that was kind like a fried onion but kinda different, hard to describe. Spent many a night in the lounge with this old school bartender Jaylenee. It was a Missoula institution way back when, but it’s probably long gone.

Might’ve been, I forget. It was definitely below the radar. They served these little brown loaves of bread for appetizers. I almost always ordered a chicken dish called something like Alfred Springs Chicken. The place usually had a pretty rowdy crowd of true Montana guys.

G'Day, this is some solid work. Did you think of all this while you were out back?

That’s exactly how they used to talk in there! So, you remember. Don’t tell me, I’ll think of it.

Were there any regulations, or just correct things?

I believe the only requirement was you had to fight your way in. Everything else after that was meritorious. True Missoula.
