Should football be cancelled If too many players test positive for colds and flu?

I’m not sure what the right answer is. I think player safety is paramount, but at some point the show must go on.

..right on!.. the show must go on...as a country we must go on...our economy must go on..people
in the past have faced MORE severe life threating illnesses and they have plowed ahead..onward! ...some
will live some will die but that is life!
...when we understand this we will be better for it!..fear holds
us back ...let the games go on!

OK you first.

I have the answer. every single person should be required to be exposed to Covid19 and I mean exposed I mean dosed in it. those that survive will live those that do not will die (I know that statement is redundant and will generate a "no shit" response) but if every singe person is forced to breath in a healthy dose of covid19 nasal spray we can be assured we will have football. For the people who don't fair well it will be for the betterment of mankind. also I don't think we should tie up any hospital beds with covid patients leave those beds for people who are more deserving like people have heart attacks and strokes etc. I guess maybe it could be started on a volunteer basis and then if people start dying in too great of numbers that volunteers drop off than make it mandatory..

the other cool thing is it mostly takes out older, balding, cigarette smoking, fat males...so skinnier, non smoking, full head of hair males like myself will have more room to move about the cabin and more elbow room at the games.

This already seems to be happening, although on a voluntary basis. The young, not at risk, and some others, are going for it in the bars, beaches and other events. Most of the others, generally older and more vulnerable, are staying home or being more careful. More than half of the cases in the bigger southern states are younger, and presumably not vulnerable.

I see that almost 80% of virus deaths in Europe are people over 75.

Getting rid of the balds should be top priority, really.

Boise State struggling with increase of Covid tests.

Boise puts off football training camps and closes campus to students. The Boise area is a bit of a hot spot in Idaho

has anyone given a number estimating what "too many players" would be? half of all players, even though some teams have no cases, and others have nearly the whole team testing positive? also, what version of the flu are we talking about? a new one? an old one that has returned, but for which there is no vaccine?

yeah, but then you might wind up with what's left, i.e. me, taking up the room with their favorite music, because they are not bugging everyone in a full room any more, and can play it loud because the other part of what's left is you?

The virus is no big deal. Sort of like a cold. Why would anyone need a hospital bed?

Only unhealthy people and people over 75 need beds.

must be why the Texas governor is saying 5,000 people a day are now being admitted to the Texas hospitals.

"The spike has led officials in Texas, Florida and other states to tighten restrictions on business again, with warnings that hospitals may soon be overwhelmed.
On Sunday, Mr Abbott said that as many as 5,000 people a day were being admitted to hospital for treatment."

That part of article is wrong. 5,000 new cases per day.

5497 virus patients in hospital as of today.

14,260 beds in Texas.

I know this won't be available this year, but the results of the vacine tests are encouraging, according to this article.

Oh, Bozone....

The horrors of people exercising their Constitutional rights and then the committee trying to circumvent expression of views contrary to their own by running a virtual meeting instead. :( I'm on the edge of my seat wondering what the ultimate decision will be.
