Indiana and Cignetti. The wave of the future.
"Look at what the Hoosiers have done in the transfer portal since Cignetti arrived.
In 2024, Indiana signed 30 transfers, including 13 who came with him from James Madison, his former employer.
Of the 30 transfers, 13 started 10 or more games for the 2024 Hoosiers, and 20 played 250 or more snaps.
Five of those players — defensive linemen Mikail Kamara and Tyrique Tucker, linebacker Aiden Fisher, cornerback D’Angelo Ponds and receiver Elijah Sarratt — are starters on the 2025 Hoosiers.
Before this season, Cignetti and his staff signed 22 more transfers. All but nine have played at least 250 snaps, seven have started six or more games and again, there’s a ton of impact. Cal transfer quarterback Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy. Notre Dame transfer center Pat Coogan has been an invaluable part of the offensive line. Kent State defensive line transfer Stephen Daley, who suffered a season-ending injury after the Big Ten Championship Game, finished third in the FBS in tackles for loss. The list of 2025 transfer hits goes on.
Since this year’s transfer portal opened on Jan. 2, the Hoosiers have been on fire. They signed TCU’s Josh Hoover,
The Athletic’s No. 4 portal quarterback, and also added Michigan State’s Nick Marsh, one of the top receivers in the portal, and running back Turbo Richard, who was Boston College’s leading rusher. On defense, two talented edge rushers from Kansas State, Tobi Osunsanmi and Chiddi Obiazor, committed to join the Hoosiers.
They’ve made 11 total additions so far, with those five expected to make the biggest impact."
