Sac play-calling in OT was odd, and conservative

We hadn't stopped them at any point previous possessions, I have no reason to believe they wouldn't have scored there.

This.... I was thrilled to see them line up for the p.a.t..... still thought they may try a trick play off of that formation.... very happy he kicked it....

This has been the problem with Sac all year, and my biggest issue with the coaching staff. They have no killer instinct and get very conservative. In every loss this year they have either had the lead late or been very close but usually decide to play it safe.

Look at the end of the half. With 4 minutes to go they decide to run the ball and end up punting quickly to Montana, who scores almost immediately. When they get the ball back with a minute Sac decides THEN to get aggressive and marches right down the field for a TD. The conservative play calling lost them the games against Southern Utah, Northern Ari, and, I feel, today.

They should have gone for two.

There is just way too much talent on this team, but their tight sphincters keep them from making the next step. So frustrating.

Your team played well today. Some key mistakes, tho.
Shit they were the better team today playarep and you know it. If their coaching staff would have stayed aggressive it would be a different outcome. They pretty much did what cal poly did..conservative in the end.

Your posts are predictable....You're better than this...

Montana has now officially ruined 7 of your Saturdays this season and 26 of your last 28 years.

Bitter much?

Nope, the Griz were the better team today, as well as before the game and after the game. Go away, troll.

NoColo was the better team today, tho.

One could make the case that UNC was the better team against MSU today also.

(UNC vs Cats)
Total Yards: 382 vs 331
Passing Yards: 291 vs 140
Rushing Yards: 91 vs 191
Time of Possession: 34:47 vs 25:13
3rd Down Conversions: 11-18 vs 4-12

If UNC hadn't shot themselves in the foot with 3 turnovers and giving up a kickoff return for a TD the Cats might have been stunned at UNC.

What happened to that great Bobcat defense anyway? Seems like the defense that lost to SFA showed up against UNC... That was the highest point total UNC has gotten this year against a D1 opponent. If that defense shows up against EWU it won't be pretty!

I completely agree with you, MSU played like absolute shit today..I was yelling vulgarities at my tv for 95% of the game. There is also a difference between turnovers and forced turnovers...msu earned the ball when unc "turned it over". You think a team gives the opposing team a punt return? That shit is earned by effective blocking and speed...and that wasn't shawn's first this season either. Anyways, weren't we talking about the griz game? I will admit that unc looked a hell if a lot better for most of that game, and you are a tardbag if you can't see the same with the sac game.

Fact of the matter is the sac offense was running the D over all game long...but just like cal poly, they got conservative with play calling instead of sticking to what had been working all game long. The Griz have a nack for capitalizing on weakness in clutch situations. Sac had a very good odds on putting that 2 pt conversion on the score board after the time out (they had been driving on griz d all day long) but played it safe and it cost them, as it did cal poly.

Believe me I know where you are coming from.

Of course, we were talking about the Griz game but I figured I'd throw the same shit back at you since both games were similar in terms of stats being one sided & turnovers helping one team a ton.

Your "there is also a difference between turnovers and forced turnovers" line has me curious... In the Griz vs Sac game were those "forced turnovers" or were those lucky turnovers in your opinion?

Anyway, I do agree Sac had a great opportunity to come away with a victory. I was happy as hell that they didn't go for the 2pt conversion, and even happier when they stopped doing what was working all game for them once it was overtime. The outcome might have still been the same though. If they had gone for it on the 2pt conversion and failed I'm sure we'd get some Cat fans claiming we got "lucky' because they did that and didn't play for overtime :P
