Rose Colored Glasses Are Off...Griz Will Take a Step Back

Actually, Marc, though I don't presume to know what 90 Griz players are thinking or feeling, I doubt any of them have "lost the old swagger". I'm pretty certain, these Griz players are just like every other big-time FCS or FBS program for that matter right now. They believe, and think they can win a national championship, and they don't give a flying f--k if the fans don't think the same. Again, I don't know any players on the current team, but I highly doubt that any of them are thinking about "just making the playoffs". And I highly doubt any of them give a s--t if fans think they wear rose colored glasses for thinking that way.

Good point and I hope the Griz have a great year, it's good for the big sky and fcs when the Griz are near the top.

First off...I think it takes a pretty big person to actually spend time to make multiple posts and wish a rival the best of luck for the season. Obviously, we all can agree when the BSC shows well, it helps for continued recruiting and adding vigor to each fan base.
I have nothing else to add other than I just wanted to point out your post(s) cause I think it's classy during a time you can often find yourself getting bashed for no reason. Best to the Eags..

I haven’t taken the time to read the brilliance of the original post, but I am assuming from the title of the thread it is objective.

MiningCityGriz stated legitimate concerns. Well done. A few have hinted at another problem, some have actually mentioned the real problem: THE COACHING STAFF! Anyone dare to analyze THAT problem? With rose colored glasses on or off, the turd in the pool is obvious.

If this was meant to be some sort of warning shot or set up for an I told you so later on, it's pretty lame. I don't disagree with some of the OP's points, but jesus christ, aren't FANS FANS BECAUSE THEY EFFING BELIEVE AND LOVE THEIR TEAM UNCONDITIONALLY? Well, at least I am, and I'd like to beleive most of Griz Nation still is. FANS love their team and I think it's absolutely hilarious when "gRIZ fANS" can't stand the general attitude of being a fan. Well, I got news for many of you, those who can't STAND the fans with Maroon Colored glasses or whatever the hell you want to call being an unconditional fan, you are in the minority. Most of the fans bleed Maroon and Silver regardless of the record, the schedule, the coaching staff, the stadium, the cold, the noise and anything else. We love the name on the FRONT OF THE JERSEY!!!!WE ARE MONTANA...... PERIOD.

nothing like a few grandiose pronouncements in order to try to put everyone else in their 'place', eh?

I mean the Griz can still go 9-3 but Mining City's concerns are legitimate aren't they?
Legitimate, well known, but overstated with a negative tone. The ability of the experienced O skill players to make plays and score will cover a lot of defensive and OL learning curves. Few teams can claim such a returning O skill set or such a dominant DL. As always, injuries will impact the '14 Griz success more than today's speculation. Mining gives insufficient credit to what the experienced 5th year senior JJ can do to create W's. If he should go down, the result could be worse than Mining's speculation.

If the 2014 Griz lose to NDSU and Wyo, and only lose one conference game, that would be a great season.
I'm not about to give in to either Wyoming or NDSU; UM has played well on the road and I like our chances in all our road games, as tough as they are.

A 10-2 team this year would be a vastly better team than last years 10-2 squad. That would mean that the Griz would have won at least 3 or as many of all 5 daunting road games. (NDSU, Wyo, Poly, EWU, Suu)
None of these games are "daunting." Tough road schedule, sure, but the Griz have played well on the road and all should be good competitive games. SUU daunting? Really?

How many in here think it's a make or break season with our coaching staff?

Raise your hand...

I have asked t his ? a few times the last year. I just asked it the other day. I feel it is a make or break season. Here is to hoping it will be a "Make".

If Delaney wasn't the age he is and in the last year of his contract, this would not be a make or break year. In my view, it really isn't a make or break year. The team/coaches are coming off of a 10-3 season, and ended the year being ranked no. 8 despite a disappointing loss in the playoffs. The prior down year is explainable for various reasons, including not having a qb with any experience at all. If UM doesn't have a good year, then I assume Delaney will retire. If UM makes the playoffs and Delaney wants to remain, do you think he'll get fired? I don't. MGR, I'm directly any of this post at you; it just happens to be on top of your post.

Agreed. Fans are supposed to be eternally optimistic. "Fans" that continually criticize the team and coaches, and keep looking on the negative side, are bad fans, in my view. As others have pointed out, even posters who are fairly objective are often labelled as sugar coaters. Some of the neggies seem to believe that one has to be negative and pessimistic to be objective.

Playoff team last year with a stellar defense, yep, daunting.

Some good comments, Kem. I agree. However, I do think this year's schedule is the toughest schedule UM has had in at least the last 15 years, at least in my recollection.

Neither SUU nor CPSLO cracked the top 30 in the TSN or coaches preseason polls. SUU picked 6th in the BSC; CPSLO 4th. Daunting has a new meaning.

Barring a major coronary, EverettGriz will finish this post!

Perhaps that is the whole post? It could be a code. Maybe it's a reference to Jean Gee?

I don't know what it meant, but I was offended by it and reported it to the mods. I know about the First Amendment and all that, but I thought that this was taking the First Amendment too far.
