Rose Colored Glasses Are Off...Griz Will Take a Step Back

I don't care if the 2014 team is better than the 2013 team. I only care if they're better than the teams they play against.

The 07 Griz were one and done in the playoffs, lost a bunch of NFL talent and were supposed to take a major step back.........

....they played for the next 2 National Championships.

Translation-you have no fricken idea how this year will pan out.

Just being purely objective, there is no way this thread can reach 17 pages.

I still believe, to be the best you have to beat the best. Playing against' good teams and beating them, makes your team much stronger in the long run.
I have reserved my room in Frisco already!! Maroon, rose, koolaid, call it what you want, I will call it a very big hunch!

How about playing good teams and not winning? Does this also mean that Sophomores are better than Freshman because they are older?

Playing good teams can only make you better win or lose...why do you think everyone on here complains when the Griz get DII teams on their schedule? If one goes back and looks at the teams we played in each year to get to the NC, you will notice that the majority of them were winning teams....of course there are always a couple of cake walks each season, a team needs that to rest up. The sophomore/freshmen or junior/senior...if you got it you got it and only get better. If you ain't got it, sometimes you never get it...

Idaho should be much improved, they played many better teams last season and all their players are a year older...Florida better watch out

The difference in your comparisions is Idaho is crappy not Florida. Florida will not get much out of that game but rest for their good players. It is the same for us playing CWU or OPHS. So what you are saying is, you want the Griz to play all CWU, OPHS, Idaho state's etc teams just so they can make the playoffs? That is how I read you...And yes, if Idaho has all there players back that are year older, they will be better! Unless they fit in the category of my last line, If you ain't got it, sometimes you never get it...

True Dat! I thought that last year's team with its defense was going to make it all the way to Frisco. So much talent (as shown by NFL players) and JJ back. How could we lose!

Well, we did.

So who knows? Maybe conventional wisdom is always wrong and we make it to the Chipper this year.

My point being, just because you play good or better teams does not simply make you a better or good team... In some ways playing a team like CWU can be beneficial by allowing you to play more kids allowing them a chance to improve. I am also a believer that a team, a player will get more benefit and you will see more improvement during quality practices than games.

It's the sole reason I relocated to Texas.

Box, I generally agree with you. A team shouldn't play weak teams every week, but it's not necessary to play good or great teams every week to improve. There are many other important factors. And, of course, a team has to play and beat some good teams to improve and gain confidence. Losing to a bunch of good teams doesn't make a team better.
